Double Banjos - Clawhammer
Also called Calico's Corn. Another one that has long been on my list to try and play by my self. In D (more or less) on my aluminum banjo.
For the old-time Tune of the Week, 10/31/14. The history behind this name is fascinating. Check out the TOTW: http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/293687 George Washington called Peter Francisco his "one-man army." I discovered I have the 1976 US stamp created in his honor, carrying a half-ton cannon on his shoulder! The tune appeared in Knauf's "Virginia Reels" book in 1839. I'm playing on a Gold Tone cello banjo, so it's in the key of D, played in what's equivalent to open G tuning.
Album: A Bag of Me Track: #03 Year: 2014 www.facebook.com/diegosartor.abagofme Diego Sartor: Banjo, Mandolin, Guitar Antonio Chiacchia: Upright Bass Composed by Diego Sartor
Played in double D tuning (EDADA) on on 11"custom black walnut banjo
Had the elements of this for awhile and just finished it off with a C part today, but had no title, so....
Hatfield Buckcreek B
Banjo#1 X
Waayyyyyy too much reverb on this. for giggles i post this.
Peter Francisco is a tune found in Knauff’s “Virginia Reels,” published in 1839. Played clawhammer style by Bob Lanham, on a Reiter Bacophone-Plus open-back banjo.
I like the way this sounds in gDGDE tuning.
5-part multitrack recording: Clawhammer Banjo and Lead Vocal; Fiddle, that teamed with Banjo and Ham. Dulc. carries all melody of the tune/song; Hammered Dulcimer; Guitar and Harmony Vocal; Bass and 2nd Harmony Vocal. Probably will need headphones/earbuds for Bass to be audible. The artist name "Big Sugar Creek" is just a "virtual band name" I use for these multitrack recordings. This is a cover of the terrific version done by the The New Mules.
A multitrack rendition of "Snake" Chapman's (probably learned from his father "Doc") fiddle tune, including clawhammer banjo, fiddle, bass, guitar, and hammered dulcimer. Clawhammer Banjo taking the lead on this one.
Catfish
I sifted this one into the "Virgin Pullets" thread on Sound Off. I'll say something about it there. Cheers and thanks for listening. I'll be in my forest hideaway if you need me: )
