The Decline of Western Society, Hope of Nations, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank features a quote from Malcom Muggeridge that he read in John S. Dickerson’s book, Hope of Nations. Muggeridge notes that it is not attacks from without that will threaten Western civilization, but attacks from within. Dickerson points out in his book that Muggeridge’s prediction is proving true in some European nations today that are struggling to grow their population of young people in order to fuel their economies. Hank answers the following questions: How can we as Christians combat the lie that sex and gender are separate? How can a loving God send one of his own creations to hell? When were the four gospels written? Are Christians required to keep the Jewish feasts and festivals? Is today’s problem that people refuse to admit that they are sinners? In the opening verses of Genesis it mentions that the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Where did that water come from if creation started later on? Since Jesus said he would be in the tomb for three days and three nights, how do we reconcile that with a Friday crucifixion? Is the vision in Ezekiel 1:4 describing a UFO?

Encore: Jesus is the Truth and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank explains the mission of the Christian Research Institute. CRI does what it does because life and truth matter. What is truth? Pontius Pilate stood toe to toe with the personification of truth and yet missed its reality. Postmodern people are in much the same position. They stare at truth but fail to recognize its identity. Os Guinness has said that Christianity is not true because it works, that’s pragmatism; it is not true because it feels right, that’s subjectivism; it is not true because it’s “my truth,” that’s relativism. It is true because it is anchored in the person of Christ. Furthermore, truth does not yield to the size and strength of the latest lobby group. Nor is truth merely a matter of preference or opinion. Rather, truth is true even if everyone denies it, and a lie is a lie even if everyone affirms it Hank answers the following questions: What does the Bible say about eternal security? When someone dies do they immediately go to heaven, or are they resurrected at a later time? There is a couple in our church that is living in sin, but the elders are going to allow them to become members anyway. What does the Bible say about this? Can you clarify Numbers 15:32-34 and the man who was stoned for gathering wood on the Sabbath? When I talk about homosexuality with my white friends, they say I’m discriminating just like those who discriminate against black people. I think it’s wrong for Christians to call themselves sinners. What role should Christians have in politics? If we are with Jesus as soon as we die, when does judgment take place? Why does the NIV not capitalize the word “he” when referring to Jesus in Genesis 3:15?

Best of BAM: Cancer Update, Socialism, Hope of Nations, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank gives an update on his battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Hank shares that his recent CT and PET scans show that all of his tumors are shrinking —most of which are not even measurable anymore. Hank also discusses the trend of millennials preferring socialism over capitalism. The first openly trans-person to win the gubernatorial nomination of a major political party—Christine Hallquist—has openly claimed that she does not even know what socialism is. Hank states that this is one of the problems we’re experiencing today, our education system is dumbed down, people don’t know about Western civilization and the brutality of socialist regimes such as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.), the People’s Republic of China, or the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (the Nazi Party). Hank also answers the following questions: I’m an instructor at a university and I’m being discriminated because of my Christian beliefs. What’s your take on how Romans 5:12-21 connects Adam and Christ? How do we decide what is kept from the Old Testament law? Was the Old Testament law the path to salvation prior to the arrival of Christ? Can you give me information on the contrasts between the Quran and the Bible? Does “Son of God” and “Son of Man” both imply divinity?

 Encore: Anti-Intellectualism in the Church and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank underscores another article in the Christian Research Journal titled “Anti-Intellectualism in the Church.” In the article, Professor Michael Austin asserts that anti-intellectualism is rampant in the church today. We have celebrity pastors that are long on rhetoric, but short on substance. Technique often trumps theology. And those in the pews have become addicted to consumer Christianity and the pursuit of pleasure, but are starved for theological depth. Despite this trend, we must train ourselves to engage in deep thought. As the apostle Paul tells us in Romans chapter 12 not to be conformed to the pattern of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Hank answers the following questions: How can I respond to atheists who say I’m only a Christian because I was born in a Christian culture? They also ask about those born into different religions who never hear about Jesus. Daystar TV often has fundraisers and claims to give the money to Israel; do you think this is legitimate? How do we know the Bible is exactly what God wanted us to have when men decided what books would be in the canon? My brother is openly gay and points to Old Testament passages that we don’t observe today to justify his lifestyle. How can I lovingly answer him? Is tithing still required today? Will Jesus’ come down again in physical form and try to prevent us from all-out genocide? I had a difficult childhood; how can I honor my father and mother when they were bad parents? I was raised as a Mormon and I’ve come to learn that it is false, but I’m having trouble understanding the Trinity. Can you explain it?

Encore: What the Size of the Cosmos Doesn’t Say about Mankind and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank highlights an article in the Christian Research Journal titled, “What the Size of the Cosmos Doesn’t Say about Mankind” by Melissa Cain Travis. The current scientific narrative claims that man is utterly insignificant in the universe. Since we’ve discovered that the Earth is not the center of the universe, then mankind must be unimportant as well. What we should note is that this is a secular philosophical argument dressed up in scientific clothes. Consider the self-contradiction of Richard Dawkins who believes that everything is material and therefore, there is no good or evil. Yet he believes that racism is evil, so he is blind to his own paradigm. The reality is that the immensity of the universe speaks of God’s ineffability. Hank answers the following questions: Do you have any advice for someone seeking God’s will? How can you live with yourself by falsely telling people that your religion is the correct religion? I read that the book of Ecclesiastes has been altered and postdated Solomon; how can we know the historical reliability and inspiration of Ecclesiastes? Why aren’t you working to convert Muslims instead of shooting them down? Matthew 8:28 mentions two demon possessed men, but the other Gospels say there was one; how do we resolve this? If God is in control, why is the world so chaotic? Is homosexuality similar to alcoholism? Can one say, “I’m a recovering homosexual”? How can I address an atheist who says there’s not enough evidence for God’s existence?

AB-2943, the LGBT Movement, and Joe Dallas | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank is joined by Christian counselor, author, and former gay activist Joe Dallas to discuss the California bill AB-2943 and the LGBT movement. Joe is the program director of Genesis Counseling in California, which is a Christian counseling service to men dealing with sexual addiction, homosexuality, and other sexual/relational problems. Joe opens up about how this bill will affect his counseling services when it is eventually enacted in the near future. Hank and Joe also discuss various LGBT topics including confusion about sexual orientation in the Church, identifying as a “Gay Christian,” gender identity, and more.

Best of BAM: Hope of Nations, Mike Pence, Anne Graham Lotz, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank unpacks one of CRI’s resources for August: Hope of Nations: Standing Strong in a Post-Truth, Post-Christian World by John S. Dickerson. If you want to know what’s going on in the world today, read this book. Also, Hank discusses the article, “Mike Pence, Holy Terror: Are you sure you want to get rid of Donald Trump?” by Frank Bruni, New York Times Opinion Columnist, in which Mike Pence is described as “self-infatuated,” “a bigot,” “a liar,” and “cruel.” Finally, Hank mentions that his Hank Unplugged podcast with Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of evangelist Billy Graham, is now online. Hank also answers the following questions: Just as there will be different levels of reward in Heaven, will there be various levels of punishment in Hell? Can you explain Matthew 24:28, where the gathering vultures are mentioned? Could you help me understand the essentials of salvation? What are your thoughts on the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement? How did the name J-E-S-U-S come to be the name included in many Bibles, although the original name is Yeshua? Have you seen A Lamp in the Dark: The Untold History of the Bible, and if so, what are your thoughts on this documentary? Where do dinosaurs fit into the Creation narrative?

AB-2943, The Redefinition of Marriage, Gender Dysphoria, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank opens the show with troubling news out of California. The California State Senate recently passed bill AB-2943 in a 25-11 vote. This bill classifies conversion therapy as a fraudulent practice and outlaws the selling of books that would help someone overcome unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion. Hank announces that he will be joined by Christian counselor and former gay activist Joe Dallas on Monday’s broadcast to discuss this issue. In the same vein, Hank discusses an article from the National Review by Robert Verbruggen titled, “Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria.” Hank also answers the following questions: How can I discuss the rapture without upsetting those that disagree with my view? Will we live on earth or heaven in the future millennium? Can you speak to the issue of pedophilia in the Church? Is baptism a necessity for new believers?

Cancer Update, Socialism, Hope of Nations, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank gives an update on his battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Hank shares that his CT and PET scans from yesterday show that all of his tumors are shrinking —most of which are not even measurable anymore. Hank also discusses the trend of millennials preferring socialism over capitalism. The first openly trans-person to win the gubernatorial nomination of a major political party—Christine Hallquist—has openly claimed that she does not even know what socialism is. Hank states that this is one of the problems we’re experiencing today, our education system is dumbed down, people don’t know about Western civilization and the brutality of socialist regimes such as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.), the People's Republic of China, or the National Socialist German Workers' Party (the Nazi Party). Hank also answers the following questions: I’m an instructor at a university and I’m being discriminated because of my Christian beliefs. A friend of mine shares posts from a website called Messianic Revolution. Have you heard of this website? Are the two witnesses in the Book of Revelation God’s creation and his written word?

The Dechristianization of American Universities, Toxic 9/11 Dust, Islam, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank explains that the book Hope of Nations by John S. Dickerson expresses how quickly our culture is unraveling, and what we can do to stand in the gap. Dickerson notes that post-Christian Germany took only 60 to 90 years to move from the philosophies of Marx and Nietzsche to the Weimar Republic. Post-Christian Russia was even quicker, and even more destructive in body count and aggressive dechristianization. These are examples with a different culture and a different expression of Christianity than in The United States, but the implications of quick unraveling are very similar. We are seeing this unraveling in the dechristianization occurring in universities across America. Hank also discusses an article from the New York Post titled, “Nearly 10K people have gotten cancer from toxic 9/11 dust” by Susan Edelman. In the article, Edelman reveals that nearly 10,000 people have gotten cancer from the toxic dust from the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Hank notes that in the midst of all of this, we continue on with a mantra that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance, and if anyone speaks out against it, they are censored. Hank also answers the following questions: What’s your take on how Romans 5:12-21 connects Adam and Christ? How do we decide what is kept from the Old Testament law? Was the Old Testament law the path to salvation prior to the arrival of Christ? Can you give me information on the contrasts between the Quran and the Bible? Does “Son of God” and “Son of Man” both imply divinity?

Hope of Nations, The Great Evangelical Recession, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank features two books by John S. Dickerson, Hope of Nations and The Great Evangelical Recession. One of the things Dickerson points out in Hope of Nations is that Americans have become increasingly ignorant of how the modern world came to be—and worse yet—they are now in danger of being misled by a flood of absurd politically correct fabrications. In The Great Evangelical Recession, Dickerson underscores six factors that will crash the American Church. Factors such as the shrinking of American evangelicals, the growing cultural hatred for anything Christian, and the drying up of donor dollars. Dickerson notes that we are in need of a major course correction, and that course correction may be summed up by the word discipleship. Hank also answers the following questions: Some churches believe in baptism in the name of Jesus only, while others believe it’s in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Which one is correct? Can you clarify what you were saying about a Unitarian god and Pentecostalism? I was listening to a preacher who said that David will co-reign with Christ when he returns. Do you know anything about that? I have a friend who wants to divorce his wife, but not for anything that the Bible gives as grounds for divorce. Would he and his wife have to remain single?

Hope of Nations, The Power of Ideas, and Q&A | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:00

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank highlights the book Hope of Nations by John S. Dickerson, one of the resources available through the ministry of CRI for the month of August. In Hope of Nations, Dickerson notes Corrie ten Boom’s insight on the power of ideas. Ten Boom writes in her book The Hiding Place about the shift that took place in a once-Christian Germany that led to Kristallnacht. And today we are seeing a similar shift in America and the West to a post-Christian ideology. We as Christians need to stand up against this post-truth, post-Christian ideology. Hank also answers the following question: In regards to what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:2, are there Christians with a said faith rather than a real faith?
