On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank features a quote from Malcom Muggeridge that he read in John S. Dickerson’s book, Hope of Nations. Muggeridge notes that it is not attacks from without that will threaten Western civilization, but attacks from within. Dickerson points out in his book that Muggeridge’s prediction is proving true in some European nations today that are struggling to grow their population of young people in order to fuel their economies. Pontius Pilate stood toe to toe with the personification of truth and yet missed its reality. Postmodern people are in much the same position. They stare at truth but fail to recognize its identity. Os Guinness has said that Christianity is not true because it works, that’s pragmatism; it is not true because it feels right, that’s subjectivism; it is not true because it’s “my truth,” that’s relativism. It is true because it is anchored in the person of Christ. Furthermore, truth does not yield to the size and strength of the latest lobby group. Nor is truth merely a matter of preference or opinion. Rather, truth is true even if everyone denies it, and a lie is a lie even if everyone affirms it Hank answers the following questions: What does the Bible say about eternal security? When someone dies do they immediately go to heaven, or are they resurrected at a later time? There is a couple in our church that is living in sin, but the elders are going to allow them to become members anyway. What does the Bible say about this? When I talk about homosexuality with my white friends, they say I’m discriminating just like those who discriminate against black people. I think it’s wrong for Christians to call themselves sinners. Despite this trend, we must train ourselves to engage in deep thought. Hank answers the following questions: How can I respond to atheists who say I’m only a Christian because I was born in a Christian culture? They also ask about those born into different religions who never hear about Jesus. Daystar TV often has fundraisers and claims to give the money to Israel; do you think this is legitimate? The current scientific narrative claims that man is utterly insignificant in the universe. Since we’ve discovered that the Earth is not the center of the universe, then mankind must be unimportant as well. What we should note is that this is a secular philosophical argument dressed up in scientific clothes. Consider the self-contradiction of Richard Dawkins who believes that everything is material and therefore, there is no good or evil. Yet he believes that racism is evil, so he is blind to his own paradigm. The reality is that the immensity of the universe speaks of God’s ineffability. Hank answers the following questions: Do you have any advice for someone seeking God’s will? How can you live with yourself by falsely telling people that your religion is the correct religion? I read that the book of Ecclesiastes has been altered and postdated Solomon; how can we know the historical reliability and inspiration of Ecclesiastes? Joe is the program director of Genesis Counseling in California, which is a Christian counseling service to men dealing with sexual addiction, homosexuality, and other sexual/relational problems. Joe opens up about how this bill will affect his counseling services when it is eventually enacted in the near future. Hank and Joe also discuss various LGBT topics including confusion about sexual orientation in the Church, identifying as a “Gay Christian,” gender identity, and more.

This bill classifies conversion therapy as a fraudulent practice and outlaws the selling of books that would help someone overcome unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion. Hank announces that he will be joined by Christian counselor and former gay activist Joe Dallas on Monday’s broadcast to discuss this issue. In the same vein, Hank discusses an article from the National Review by Robert Verbruggen titled, “Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria.” Hank also answers the following questions: How can I discuss the rapture without upsetting those that disagree with my view? Dickerson notes that post-Christian Germany took only 60 to 90 years to move from the philosophies of Marx and Nietzsche to the Weimar Republic. Post-Christian Russia was even quicker, and even more destructive in body count and aggressive dechristianization. These are examples with a different culture and a different expression of Christianity than in The United States, but the implications of quick unraveling are very similar. We are seeing this unraveling in the dechristianization occurring in universities across America. One of the things Dickerson points out in Hope of Nations is that Americans have become increasingly ignorant of how the modern world came to be—and worse yet—they are now in danger of being misled by a flood of absurd politically correct fabrications. In The Great Evangelical Recession, Dickerson underscores six factors that will crash the American Church. Factors such as the shrinking of American evangelicals, the growing cultural hatred for anything Christian, and the drying up of donor dollars. Dickerson notes that we are in need of a major course correction, and that course correction may be summed up by the word discipleship. Ten Boom writes in her book The Hiding Place about the shift that took place in a once-Christian Germany that led to Kristallnacht. And today we are seeing a similar shift in America and the West to a post-Christian ideology. We as Christians need to stand up against this post-truth, post-Christian ideology.
