CPA Reviewed Podcast #68: CPA Exam Pass Rates | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 59:30

[Listen on iTunes] [Listen on Stitcher] [Listen on Tunein] [Submit a question to the Podcast]   The CPA Reviewed CPA Exam podcast is back! In this episode, we cover: 1) Q1 CPA Exam Pass Rates released by the AICPA 2) Your CPA Exam Questions:   * Karan - I need to take FAR, REG, & AUD before the end of April. I know I could've planned better. What is that I can do to pass the 3 parts?   * Ben – I scored a 74 on REG. Should I consider a score appeal?   * Crystal - I will be graduating on May 12th. I am taking an auditing class and international econ class with finals on May 4th and 5th. I have a proposed schedule for my exams and I wanted to get your input. If I schedule my first exam for the end of May, second for mid July, third for end of Aug, and last for mid Oct, do you think this is feasible or too aggressive? I plan on ordering your Ten Point Combo program this week to start preparing.   * Jordan - I recently listened to your survivor's guide to the CPA exam. It was an informative listen and if I'm being honest a gut check of my motivation and degree thereof. I currently have Becker which my job paid for, runs out in July. I need to pass all 4 parts with having only sat for FAR and making a 63. It really hit home when you said that if you make a 74 you aren't one point away from passing. At this time I am commuting roughly an hour and a half each day and made use of chapter one audio notes. I'd like your advice on what materials you offer and what you think may work for me.   * Ash - I have failed twice in REG with a "Weaker" simulation but a "Stronger" in MCQ. I want to know the best way to get atleast a Comparable in Sims which would help me in passing REG. Please advice.   * Eve - I have questions on whether to take the CPA exam in total since I got my BEC 73, 74, FAR: 67,74, AUD: 70, and REG: 71. The past year has been a real torture. I used NINJA AUD, FAR, and BEC and I am at about 50-70% pass rate. I kinda don't know whether to continue to take CPA since I am working in Risk Consulting at Big 4. Or I am not suitable for this. Or I may not know if i have a wrong way of studying?   * Nechelle - Need some advise on my direction with my CPA exam. I took FAR during Jan/Feb 2016 window and got a 73. The area i was weak in was MCQ and it does not surprise me since I was only able to get through 1/3 of the NINJA test questions and was trending a 69. I am currently studying for Audit and I am scheduled to take Audit April 30th. My question is should I jump back into FAR for the next 2-4 weeks and retake that exam in April or continue on with m...

In this episode, we cover:   Intro: NASBA/AICPA extend CPA Exam testing window 10 days (forum discussion here) (nasba article here) 1. Stephanie - Hi Jeff, I recently found out I failed FAR for the second time (~60s). My score only went up 2 points from the first time I took it. I have been studying FAR since September and just feel very discouraged. Do you think I should try and take BEC or AUD and save FAR for later? I am working 40 hours and summer is when my work will be slow so I'm not sure if i should focus on FAR in the summer or just keep pushing through FAR and try again? Thank you for your help! 2. Jonathan - took FAR in January after studying for three months. I got a 71. I knew the reason was because I got hit with three simulations from the last chapter on Becker which I did not know as well. I started studying for Audit while I was waiting for my FAR score. I took Audit Feb 29, just got my grade, and got a 71. I thought I killed that test. Everything seemed to go great. I don't know where to start. While I was waiting for my audit score, I started reviewing FAR for my 2nd retake, thinking that Audit was in the books. Now, however, I don't know what to do. I don't know if I should retake FAR or Audit April 1. I don't know what to study more for Audit. 3. Amanda - Jeff, I just found out that I didn't pass FAR with a 72. This will be my third attempt with FAR (74, 70, and 72). Unfortunately, I lost my credit for AUD, which I passed by reviewing for one week with a 81. At this point, do I restudy for FAR and attempt early April or focus on passing AUD again? I'm currently working full time at a CPA firm and have a small family. Thanks for any and all advice. 4. Valerie - I've taken FAR twice and got a 70 and a 73. I've been using Roger CPA Review and am considering getting your NINJA MCQ. I was wondering if there are any reviews that I can look at? (link: NINJA MCQ Trending vs Actual Exam Scores) 5. Carrie - Jeff, I asked in another email if the NINJA Notes layout mirrors the NINJA Book and thought it would be a good podcast question. I also have a note taking question. I also believe that the key to solidifying my learning is writing. However, I have found with my current "highlighter heavy" program,

 CPA Reviewed #60: REG Update, Club 74, & Staying Motivated | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:15

A71 Links: More Podcasts YouTube (Subscribe) iTunes (Subscribe) Ask Jeff (http://www.another71.com/ask-jeff/): Patti – What are the major REG exam changes for July 2015? Hany - How many questions are in the NINJA MCQ and Simulations? Ryan- I have been taking the CPA Exam off and on for about 7 years now and have used multiple cpa review courses. I am getting 65 to 70 every single time. I am beginning to become discouraged and thinking of throwing in the towel. However, I have a new baby and this has given me motivation to FINALLY get this exam behind me. Do you have any tips for me? Tim- So I just got my AUD scores back last night, and I got a 74 after studying my butt off the past 2 months. What else can I do to help me get over the 75 mark to pass? Tammy– I am not the one who is taking the CPA exam, my boyfriend is. Since he is too depressed right now to ask for help, I guess I will be the one to seek help. He has been very hard working over the past two years but for some reason still hasn't managed to pass BEC. So far he has taken it 4 times- 63, 72, 68, and 73 as of today. He has been using a review course along side NINJA MCQ and has being scoring pretty well and trending in the high 80% for ninja. Before the exam date, he would be doing 100 mcq & studying about 4 hrs on a daily basis and on weekends he would devote up to 6 hours. I feel like he has been doing everything he possibly can be doing but it's just not reflecting on his test score. We are both frustrated… I am sure he is more upset than anyone else. He doesn't know what else he could have done differently for his 5th BEC exam. Anything would help. Free CPA Exam Resources: CPA Exam Survival Guide CPA Exam Study Planner + Free Notes

Rob - Hi, I am scheduled to take the REG exam in the beginning of July and I am interested in purchasing NINJA material. However, it looks like the NINJA material for REG is for tax law that is tested until 6/30/15. Does this mean that NINJA materials purchased now would not encompass subject matter that will appear July 2015 and going forward? Evan - Hi Jeff, when will the REG Ninja MCQs and Blitz be updated for the July exam? I'm guessing they aren't updates yet because people are still studying for the current test window. Great site/products and thanks a lot. 2. Rana - Can you please also give me advice on how I can pass this section? I've taken it 3 times so far. The first time I didn't study too well and got a 57. Second time got a 67 with MCQ weaker and Sims comparable. Third time got a 70 with MCQ comparable and Sims weaker. This time around i got comparable or stronger in all of my mcq subjects except Law, which was weaker. Any advice to give myself a push to get to that 75? 3. Y - My doubt is about the Ninja Framework. I don't know if I understand it correctly. What I understand of it is that I must see ALL the videos, but do I take notes while watching it? or Should I watch them all and then take notes with the book? I'm trying to be time efficient so thanks for your time! 4. Chelle - Hi Jeff, What advise would you give to me who has been out of school for over 15 years? I have a bachelors degree in Accounting earned 15 years ago. I'm a mom with a 5 year old and a 13 year old. I currently work full time with a group of CPA's and my managers encourage me to pursue the exam. Where do I begin? Do I take refresher college courses or can I just study the CPA reviews right away? I recently ordered for my transcripts and will send to the board of accountancy so they can let me know - what other courses I need to take to qualify to sit for the exam. Help! 5. Myranda - I came across your site/products while trying to figure out which CPA study materials I would like to purchase. I downloaded and reviewed the sample products that you have available on your site and like what I see. I also read through the CPA Exam Survival Guide, which I found to be quite helpful. However, I am still stumped as to how to approach studying/purchasing materials. I actually like the NINJA model that you have developed. But I am still slightly confused. So my questions are a follows: 1) Should I or do I need to purchase a separate program in addition to the NINJA program? 2) Do I need to purchase just videos from another company and then supplement with NINJA products? 3) In the CPA Exam Survival Guide it mentioned to "1. Nail the videos"...

You can also subscribe on iTunes Have a question for the Podcast? Ask Jeff Rod - I studied for FAR for over 5 months, went through my video course 3 times, as well as the Wiley test bank, and passed with a 77. Now that I'm studying for Audit I don't want to go through the same process. What lessons should I learn from my first studying experience? Alejandra - I have taken the audit exam 3 times and my scores were 70,69,70. What can I do to better prepare for my retake? Barbara - About 5 years ago, I started registering for the CPA Exam and never completed my registration. A whole lot of excuses later, I am ready to embark on this journey. Where do I begin? CPA Exam Survival Guide Ashley - Do you know if the pass rates for the exams are skewed so low because of 1) people who don't study, and 2) people who graduated 30+ years ago? If you had to guess, what percentage of people who have recently graduated with accounting degrees and are actively studying for the exam actually pass? Carolina - Is it possible to study day and night and pass all four sections in six weeks? Mike - I hate my job as an auditor and have a new job offer. I don't want to leave my company hanging during busy season. Should I tell the new company I'm available in April? Eric - Best way to quickly and efficiently pass the CPA Exam while studying full time? Alicia - How large are the NINJA Audio files? I am guessing they are MP3 files, but I'd like to know if they can fit on my old MP3 player which is only a 4GB player. Also how do the updates work for the notes and the audio? Do you have to provide copies of your failing scores to receive the updates? I was just wondering if for some reason an exam got pushed back from the 2014 year to the 2015 year because of whatever, would someone still be eligible for the updates for free? I'm planning on starting the exam this fall and with the weather here in the northeast and my luck, I'll get snowed out on at least one exam testing day. What is the best way to pass quickly and efficiently the CPA exam? I am between jobs and I want to take advantage of my time off.
