Monica from Stop13 step and Leaving AA blogs and Ryan from his new blog (www.steppingonsuicide.blogspot.com) discuss Ryan's thoughts about his younger sister's recent suicide and how it's so closely related to her AA involvement. With it's dogmatic culture, unsupportive relationships and 'bossy" sponsors and sexual predators members fear to speak the truth. Medical Professionals, Judges and Therapist suggest 12 Step when many of them have never even stepped into a meeting. Neither are they warned that if they don't "Play the Game" and talk the talk and drink the kool-aid...they may be ostricized.

It is with deep saddness that I write this today. I am doing a show all about this fantastic blog that is coming down for now.  Friend the girl and MA have been running this puppy for almost 3 years. They have helped thousands and pissed off many Pro AA'ers.  Many who were leaving 12 step had no where to turn for support but they did here. I will be launching something to catch us till something else is done.  massive

I recently heard an interview on Tavis Smiley on PBS with A Peace Leader from Liberia, Leymah Gbowee who wrote the book MIGHTY  BE OUR POWERS talk about how they affected change in a Country with men walking around with AK47's .  So why in the USA, can't women feel safe and be safe in 12 step meetings? Maybe AA is set up in such a way that predators know that No one is going to speak up. Why? What are they afraid of. Why are they so timid. Have they no courage and no voice like these African Woman who have changed their country once War ravaged where they too were once rendered powerless.  They are empowered. They are peaceful and they are strong. I wish I could find a community of woman who are like these African Woman. Fearless. Empowered. Smart. CAll in text or chat  to address this issue. Should this part of the Big Book be re written so that it makes sense and perhaps  relayed "Honest"  recovery techiniques. Many of us feel that 1936 rhetoric is way over rated. Some big rehabs like Betty Ford use this to help clients recover. Paying all that money to be told faith healing wil help them stop drinking. What do you think? We will also discuss Monica's new Petition Addressing the sending of Dui's , Sex Offenders and Violent Criminals To regular AA Meetings without letting the Public and current AA members having knowleged of this. WE beleive that the The Courthouse with an armed guard should provide for all the DUI"S and Sex Offenders and The Violent Criminlas with a seasonsed professional leader. Don't mix them in with regular  AA meetings or even sending them to Smart or SOS might be leathal?  How about giving them a book ( Not the Big Book)  attending online meetings , and seeing a therapist who doesnt push AA/NA weekly!    What do you think.  Are you Empowered or Powerless?

After 4 months being gone from AA I have felt a mutitude of feelings; Anger, Depressed, Sad, Embarassed. But I am moving on even though I have had a few moments here and there of feeling like AA robeed me of many years. I hid in AA as a Youth. Eventually I grew out of hiding.
