The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker – Cane and Rinse No.231 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:59:16

Or Zelda IX. Or is it VIII? Seven-and-a-half? That's why no-one calls it that. Anyway, this is definitely the eighth of our 18 planned podcasts on Nintendo's fantasy franchise. Leon, Josh, Ryan and Leah Haydu consider and confer all aspects of the 2002/03 GameCube game, it's 'controversial' unveiling, divisive art style and its (perhaps surprisingly different) 2013 HD update. Messages in bottles from the far-flung corners of the sprawling archipelago that makes up the Cane and Rinse community are also opened and orated. Music used in this issue: Track 1: The Legendary Hero by Kenta Nagata, Hajime Wakai, Toru Minegishi, Koji Kondo Track 2: Title Theme by Kenta Nagata, Hajime Wakai, Toru Minegishi, Koji Kondo Cane and Rinse 231 was edited by Sean O'Brien Do you have an opinion about a game we're covering that you'd like read out on the podcast? It's 1999 and arcade gamers are enjoying some Crazy Taxi, SEGA Hitmaker's loud and lurid take on the career of driving a Hackney Carriage. Leon, Karl, Ryan and returning guest Dan Clark talk Dreamcast and coin-op versions of the game in some depth and detail, as well as the game's relationship to its pop punk soundtrack and a whistle stop ride through Crazy Taxi's sequels and successors - aided and abetted as always by the Cane and Rinse community.  Plants vs. Zombies – Cane and Rinse No.229 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:58:58

No-one had pitted flesh-eating vegetation against brain-eating cadavers before PopCap's George Fan, but that's exactly what he did in 2009's tower-defence-with-a-twist, Plants vs. Zombies. Your panel of Leon, James and Ryan have put hundreds of hours into pea-shooting pesky prowlers and are pleased to share their plantation procedures. We also hear from the CaR PvZ community, and talk a little bit about why we decided not to cover 2013's mobile-only sequel, Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time.  The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages / Oracle of Seasons – Cane and Rinse No.227 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:58:24

Nintendo entrusted the development of a Zelda game to Capcom 'super-group' Flagship for 2001's simultaneously released duo of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. The project started out as an attempt at remaking the original 1986 The Legend of Zelda for Game Boy Color before morphing into a profoundly more ambitious brand new trilogy of games then ultimately settling on a brace of separate interlocking titles. Leon, Ryan, Sean, Leah Haydu and our faithful community report on their experiences and give their opinions of these 'bootleg' Zeldas. Music used in this issue: Track 1: Nayru's Song by Kiyohiro Sada and Minako Adachi Track 2: Subrosia by Kiyohiro Sada and Minako Adachi Cane and Rinse 227 was edited by Jay Taylor Do you have an opinion about a game we're covering that you'd like read out on the podcast?  Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch – Cane and Rinse No.226 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:59:55

For many, the idea of JRPG maestros Level-5 teaming up with animation and storytelling magicians Studio Ghibli was the stuff of fantasy. Ni no Kuni ('Second Country') was the entirely real manifestation of this collaboration however, arriving first on DS in late 2010 before coming, extended and opulent in HD, to the PS3 a year later. Leon, Josh, Ryan and returning guest Simon Cole focus on the early 2013 European release, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch and - along with contributions from Cane and Rinse listeners - attempt come to terms with its quirks and foibles as well as its undoubted audio-visual magnificence. With their mothers, fathers, siblings and even their old mate Alex all slayed by DEATH=ADDER, Leon, Karl, Michiel Kroder and Dan Clark avenge their losses by thoroughly giving SEGA AM1's 1989 fantasy brawler Golden Axe, its inspirations, its various conversions, sequels, spin-offs and legacy the once over. As usual we also share memories and opinions from listeners via both the Cane and Rinse forum and social media.  Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony – Cane and Rinse No.224 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:56:52

Inspired by the arcade games of CAVE and Treasure, the modern day Manic Shoot 'Em Up has found a home in the living room. Final Form Games' 2011 shmup, Jamestown has Bullet Hell hallmarks, but its unusual setting, structure and soundtrack piqued the collective interests of James, Ryan, Tony and special guest, genre specialist Simon Cole. Music used in this issue: Track 1: Prologue by Francisco Cerda Track 2: Credits by Francisco Cerda Cane and Rinse 224 was edited by Jay Taylor Do you have an opinion about a game we're covering that you'd like read out on the podcast?  Titanfall – Cane and Rinse No.223 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:59:03

Titanfall landed just over two years ago, the much anticipated first product of former Infinity Ward devs, Respawn Entertainment. Although closely associated with Xbox One (and perhaps therefore unfortunately, that particular console's controversial launch), the game also arrived on PC and 360. Leon, Josh, Karl and guest David Turner of The Computer Game Show strap in and chew over what they enjoyed about this fast-paced future FPS, with its unusual blend of parkour and in-mech action. We also hear from the Cane and Rinse community, giving voice to at least one naysayer, representing that section of the audience who felt that the game revealed its hand too early, burned bright and died young. Music used in this issue: Track 1: Wallrunner by Stephen Barton Track 2: Cosmology by Stephen Barton Cane and Rinse 223 was edited by Sean O'Brien Do you have an opinion about a game we're covering that you'd like read out on the podcast?  The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask – Cane and Rinse No.222 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:00:00

In our sixth podcast covering Nintendo's fantasy series, we come to 2000's The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Leon, Ryan, Michiel Kroder (as well as an audio contribution from Leah Haydu) are your panel as we attempt to cram everything we need to say about this densest of games into a single three day cycle. Eiji Aonuma's full directorial debut provokes a wide array of responses to the game's various, often unusual facets. Of course we also consider the significant and substantial changes made to the game by GREZZO and Nintendo for the 2015 3DS rerelease of the game. Please note: We had so much to say about this particular game and so did our community. As such - in order to stick to our self-imposed two hour time limit for the podcast - a swathe of fascinating listener correspondence is now available as a "podcast offcut" over on the Cane and Rinse YouTube channel. Do check it out. Music used in this issue: Track 1: Title Theme by Koji Kondo. Track 2: Last Day by Koji Kondo. Track 3: Mayor's Meeting by Koji Kondo. Cane and Rinse 222 was edited by Ryan Hamann

 Gunstar Heroes – Cane and Rinse No.221 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:50:07

Breakaway studio Treasure launched its first game in 1993, Gunstar Heroes. Formed of some of Konami's crack Super Nintendo coders, Treasure rapidly built its reputation on this hectic, sometimes surreal sprite and special effects-heavy run and gunner for SEGA's 16-bit Mega Drive/Genesis. Leon, along with a panel of enthusiasts - Michiel Kroder, Dan Clark and Simon Cole - discuss both the original game, its various ports and versions as well as 2005 GBA sequel Gunstar Super Heroes (aka Gunstar Future Heroes). Music used in this issue: Track 1: Gunstar Heroes - Title by Norio Hanzawa Track 2: Gunstar Heroes - Ending by Norio Hanzawa Cane and Rinse 221 was edited by Jay Taylor Do you have an opinion about this particular game or maybe about our podcast in general? Then why not venture into our forum and leave us your feedback. Whilst there you could also interact with our ever-growing and friendly community, in discussing past, present and future videogames (and lots of other stuff too!) and perhaps even arrange some games with like-minded individuals.  RAGE – Cane and Rinse No.220 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:53:28

Darren, Karl and Sean discuss RAGE, a game from a fascinating time in id Software's history. The then brand new id Tech 5 engine rendering a 'MegaTextured' post-cataclysmic wasteland is the setting as we converse at length about what it's like to drive, shoot and craft in RAGE. Does the aesthetic live up to id's previous work? Do MegaTextures matter? And just how did they get away with a competitive multiplayer mode which isn't first-person shooting? Music used in this issue: Track 1: Attack of the Mutants by Rod Abernethy Track 2: The Well by Rod Abernethy Cane and Rinse 220 was edited by Sean O'Brien Do you have an opinion about this particular game or maybe about our podcast in general?
