Lucia: Come ci siete andati? ----Formal English---- Lucia: How was the weekend in Umbria? Maria: It was wonderful. First of all, the weather was magnificent. Second, Spello, which I wanted to visit for a long time, didn't fall short of my expectations. Lucia: How did you get there? Maria: We took the plane from Milan to Perugia. Lucia: Really convenient! What did you do? Maria: Besides visiting the more important monuments, we relaxed and also enjoyed the local specialties. Lucia: Beautiful, what did you like most? Maria: Maybe the food, but unfortunately at the end, I didn't feel very well and I couldn't eat all I wanted. All things considered though, it was a great distraction. Lucia: Actually, you look more relaxed. --------------------------- Learn Italian with ItalianPod101! Don't forget to stop by ItalianPod101.com for more great Italian Language Learning Resources!

 Advanced Audio Blog #29 - Venezia #4 - Venice to eat - part 2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4:55

Learn Italian with ItalianPod101! Don't forget to stop by ItalianPod101.com for more great Italian Language Learning Resources! Buon Appetito! ----Formal English---- Venice to eat - part 2 Whether you go out in the morning or in the evening, after a few jokes, a glass of white wine, some amusing gossip and a couple of snacks, the time for lunch or dinner will certainly come: the time for real meals, consisting of a first and/or of a second course served with bread, or better yet, with polenta. These are meals to be eaten in the warmth of one’s home, comfortably sitting at the table, with the company of one’s family or of the TV. So, back from the errands, the walk that separates the Lion from his Venetian dwelling is a digestive walk that occurs before even starting a meal. Only at home can you really eat! Yes, but what? As a starter, or often as a main dish, depending on the season, there are the little land snails, mantis shrimps with olive oil dressing, the panada, and the already mentioned marinated sardines, Carpaccio or mussels and clams sauté. First courses range from Venetian style anchovy sauce linguine, squid ink spaghetti, meat sauce lasagnas, green peas risotto, fish soup or rice with fish, just to name the classics. Among the second (or main) courses there are the Venetian style beef liver, tripe or stockfish stews, small fried crabs, stewed shrimps with tomatoes, birds with polenta and so many different types of meat, fish, game meat and shellfish it is hard [...]
