 Ep37: I don’t trust little lips | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:17

I don’t think people ever think about this but not everyone in our own personal circle of life can be trusted.  There are many types of untrustworthy people.  There are out right liars, people who thrive on drama, people who really believe in the stories they spew out.  This means we all must have our own tell in order to weed out the liars from the truth-tellers.  My tell: In more cases than not, if you have little lips, you just can’t be trusted.  There are a few exceptions to my rule but not enough to overturn my ruling. In this episode: I was so scared I made a noise, which made everything about that moment disturbing Who thought a  drive through window on the passenger side was a good idea?  Ep36: The end of the world as we know it | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:12

When posed with a countdown to the end of the world in just 24 days one starts to contemplate what one would do if they only had less than a month to live. I can tell you right now there is a lot I haven’t wanted to do because I want to live a full and rich life and go out with a great legacy I can be proud of. However, if I only had a month, there is a list of things I’d like to check off. Let’s face it, when faced with death, life becomes worth living. In this episode:  The world is coming to an end Hey Colon, you are starting to frighten me. I can't fight so if faced with a confrontation, I will need to kill them   As always share my podcast with friends, enemies, and please help donate to my habits. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=SSF42VCACA62J Lonald

I wrap up part 2 of a two of a part series this week and it will go down as one of my favorite podcast episodes ever.  As I turn 41 on Tuesday, the last few weeks have been all about exploring my past and what it was like growing up.   In part 1 I talk about my parent’s 50th anniversary and the last 50 years of their life.  Now in part 2, I explore the last 40 years of my life. I give my very first interview and it is with my mom.  If there was any mystery in your mind about how I became who I am today; after listening to us talk, I can assure you, everything will become crystal clear. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.  Ep34: 50 years of bliss (Part 1) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 43:45

There is one thing I have realized in my lifetime, finding the right person to love forEVER is a difficult task. We are forced to live the long stretch of our life with our siblings and family but you do not ever need to compromise with their idiotic beliefs, or dramatically bad choices.  Instead, you just need to endure hearing about it as your family tells you about them all in story form at a dinner. Basically, you ignore or block it out that you even had to hear these stories in the first place. Sure you can do this with a marriage too but I can tell you first hand, this does not work out. If you cannot compromise then you can expect the relationship not to last. It takes a very special type a person to survive 50 years of bliss. That type of person was born in the 1940’s and it will not be long before they go extinct. My parents are a part of this small dying breed. In a two part series I discuss their 50 years of successes and the effects it had on us as a family. In this episode:  When in a room with them you can see the dysfunction You forgot the red sauce, well I know you are but what am I Passive aggressive Theater transcript 50 years of bliss   As always share my podcast with friends, enemies, and please help donate to my habits. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=SSF42VCACA62J Lonald

 Ep33: Life is a b#%ch and then you die | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:49

I think the hardest part about being human is having the knowledge that at some point we will all die. This kind of information is a horrible burden; there is no way around death and as much as we all get that, why do we need to know, wuldn’t it just be easier if we didn’t?  I think this is why we never deal with death and horrible situations very well, because when someone gets sick or someone is dying, or a close friend of ours is slowly slipping away, we never handle the news right.  We don’t handle it right because it is a harsh reminder of our own mortality. In this episode:  My thoughts are always lost in translation My thoughts and prayers are with you The heavy burden of knowing you will die Please follow the link below to The American Red Cross.  Ep31: It isn’t easy being dad | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:35

The first thing I want to do is give a huge thank you to all of you listeners out there who have supported this podcast. Oct has had the biggest boost in listenership ever.  We are approaching 800 and still climbing. Please take the time to go over to Itunes and give a review and rate the podcast. If you feel inclined you can also tip me on my website to help towards the costs to produce the show. It is tough being a dad. Sometimes you make bad choices, sometimes they are such bad decisions other people want to document your stupidity.  Other times, stuff happens and it is so unplanned you just don’t know how to react.  Dads have a strong responsibility to teach our children lessons which keep them safe. However, we fall short of having a plan should these kids not take our advice.  Ep30: That’s how I do Comedy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 44:47

Just before she heads out on a grueling 50 state tour in 50 days, a dear longtime friend and colleague, Kristine Levine sits down in the confessional booth that is the nook and talks about her frustrations, passions, and her fears.  From the comfort of her own home, Kristine gives us all an intimate portrait of what it is like to be inside the heart, mind and living quarters of the wonderful blue eyed ray of sunshine that is Miss Levine.  Ep29: Souled Out? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:43

If you have been an avid fan of what I do in my podcast, you know that not every episode I do is packed full of non-stop comedy.  Sometimes it is about me evaluating my purpose on and off the stage;  sometimes it is about confessing my fears and challenges with a real honest approach.  If you enjoy that from time to time, then you will enjoy ep29.  Over the last few weeks I’ve had my comedic talents tested and pushed to their limits.  I’ve had to dig deep into my soul, ask myself some hard questions, and at certain times while performing I might have even lost a little of my soul. The title is not a typo or misspelling. It is a simple question, the answer… Well, the answer is the complex part of the equation; one that every artist should ask themselves.  Ep28: No Soliciting | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 40:22

I think the best way to handle my anger these days is through my confessional booth rants here in the nook.  It gives me the wonderful opportunity to explode all the little things in life which get me riled up like when solicitors show up on my front door to talk to me about the word of the Lord, repairing roofs in the neighborhood or even when a guy wants to try to convince me Xfinity isn’t really Comcast when we all know it is and that I’d enjoy their services more than the service I already have.  Here in the nook, you get to hear how I handle this situation safely. In this episode I discuss: Get it through your head, your company sucks I can’t handle video Games, I get retarded mad The Zombies are attacking As always share my podcast with friends, enemies, and please help donate to my habits. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=SSF42VCACA62J Lonald

 Ep27: March 27th 2013 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:09

Join me in a very special episode of From The Nook Podcast as I reveal an important announcement.  Something which means a lot to me, nothing this big has happened since 2007. I’m trying to get back into the groove of my life and it is important because I have some very important projects coming up, one which I will announce tonight at the end of this podcast.  With that said however, I have had an interesting few weeks since my return home from vacation.   When life gets hectic you need to find common ground. You need to find your center, your reason for moving forward, your motivation for living. For me, unfortunately it comes with a heavy price, in the form of a sweaty new age bath house sharing with total strangers, how comfortable I am with my own body.  Nothing grounds us more than being completely naked with some other total stranger who is equally comfortable doing the same thing.  The key to being grounded is humbling.   In this episode I discuss: Finding Common Ground Juicy Purple Grape Assisted Suicide in the literal  sense Podcast ‘s I highly recommend March 27th 2013   As always share my podcast with friends, enemies, and please help donate to my habits. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=SSF42VCACA62J Lonald

 Ep26: Designated Driver | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:49

Whenever you return from vacation it is really hard to get back into the mindset of working again, from performing to podcasting, hell even getting back into my work out routine.  Then as you transition back into the life you lived before you left for your trip to paradise, you begin to be reminded of the thoughts and frustrations of why you wanted to go on vacation in the first place.  Your head begins to fill up with these situations, or  at least I do.  The unique advantage I have is as soon as my tank gets to the brink of spilling over, I get to flush it out on a new episode of my podcast.  Well, thank you Nook for giving me the outlet in which to get it off my chest.    In this episode I discuss: Back from San Diego:  Small children hate the Zoo. If for some reason when you reached episode 25 and thought to yourself, I cannot wait to listen to what will be an epic benchmark episode in Lonnie’s podcast history, let me tell you this is not the case.  If anything it was an epic bad decision on part to even upload it to my site.  Yeah, I thought it would be a great idea to… well, why spoil it, listen for yourself and cast your own opinions.  Ep24: Going Through Puberty | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:10

It is tough being a dad of two boys.  I’d like to think I’m doing an alright job but as my boys get older it is getting increasingly more difficult.  There are many challenges ahead for both of my two boys, what with sharing a life in two households, following two different sets of morals and rules, my oldest starting to go through puberty… Or so he thinks.  Yeah it is tough, and yes you are twelve now but puberty doesn’t pore into you like a fresh cup of morning Joe.  Plus did you know there is more to puberty than growing pubic hair and getting your new rich deep radio voice? You also get a zit face. Oh, and the idea you are growing into a man, well you have a long way to go on that front, I’m fine with this too.  For me, there is no rush, but trying to get you to believe that you are still a long way off the mark; now that is the real challenge I have as a father. In this episode I discuss: He thinks he’s going to get  lucky with someone just as weird Facebook update from my son (Oh La La) Puberty doesn’t work like that He can always play air guitar As always share my podcast with friends, enemies, and please help donate to my habits.  Ep23: My wife is getting married | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:13

Look, I’m not leading the way in political commentary nor is my podcast the defining resource for current events, if you want that, listen to NPR for the real news.  However, when someone speaks out and what they say is loud enough for us all to hear, you can bet your ass if I think it is funny, I’ll be talking about it in an episode of From The Nook.  How is it though that Daniel Tosh can’t make rape funny but Todd Akin, a GOP candidate for Missouri’s upcoming senates race, not only makes it funny, but coins a new phrase in search engines across the internet, “Legitimate Rape”?  In this episode I discuss: Legitimate Rape The Rules at a campground Good for you Lonnie Bruhn It takes a Vocational Village to raise an education My wife is getting married As always share my podcast with friends, enemies, and please help donate to my habits.
