 “Cheerleader Ninjas” | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 44:49

“Cheerleader Ninjas” is a spoof film that falls short. Playwright Robert Matsushita crosses over from his podcast to talk about this clunker. It’s a spoof movie with a couple of legit laughs. But it’s all over the place. A couple of people (Art Wheeler mostly) accidentally watched “Cheerleader Ninjas” instead of “Ninja Cheerleaders.” So this is a make up show. Plot Summary from IMDB: * Four perky, clueless cheerleaders from the Happy Valley High Hamsters are mistakenly blamed by the meddling Church Ladies for the invasion of the “Internet smut” into their children’s bedrooms. The Church Ladies hire Stephen, a sexually ambiguous teacher from the local Parochial Reform School, to teach the cheerleaders a lesson. But the cheerleaders have more than Stephen to worry about…lurking in the shadows is Mr. X, an evil mastermind who is using the cheerleaders as guinea pigs to test his Internet Zombie Domination software! – Written by CntrlTrack

(Stripper) “Ninja Cheerleaders” | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:55

George Takei and Michael Paré slum in this confused film. Listen to the recap a movie about… well, ninja cheerleaders. This episode was recorded on the last day of production on “Totally Biased W/ Kamau Bell.” Every day I worked there the sound engineer, Rob would ask “You see ‘Ninja Cheerleaders’ yet?” I thought he was joking. There can’t be a movie about cheerleading ninjas with George Takei and Michael Paré! Oh yes there can. Finally we recorded this episode on the last day of working on the FXX talk show. Since it’s the day after the wrap party and there’s nothing to do in the office, I found time to talk to Rob. We also found an empty office. It was of the EP, Chuck Sklar. Chuck was featured in our last episode. Chuck may make an appearance in this episode. You’ll hear a lot of talking. That’s because the show is cancelled and no one gives a shiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

Sharon Stone Gets Cut in “Scissors” | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 34:15

Eric Spiegelman (Midroll hotshot, “Old Jews Telling Jokes”) proudly resents Sharon Stone’s “Scissors.” The 1991 film about a woman who is constantly groped and attacked by every man in this film. Then she gets locked in an apartment for half the film. Strangest film we’ve reviewed yet. (See movie below) Eric and I recap the film. Plus we talk about what lengths we’d go for a cheap apartment in New York compared to LA. Eric produced the very popular “Old Jews Telling Jokes.” At the very end of the show, hear my mom and his dad tell dirty jokes. From IMDB.com: After a young woman is attacked in the elevator she meets her neighbors (two brothers) for the first time. One of the brothers has a secret, the other has a crush on her. Her analyst tries to help her over the attack, but when she is invited to a mysterious apartment things get worse and worse. * – Written by Rob Hartill This is a very unknown Sharon Stone movie before she became kind of iconic with BASIC INSTICT. Stone is a trammed girl who locks alone in his apartment collecting scissors and making weird dolls. At the opening, she is attacked by a stranger who attempts to rape her in a elevator but her neighbor saves her. He becomes very interested on her but she just’t don’t keep him attention. Searching for a job she goes to a good looking, futuristic apartment and suddenly she got lock in there. There are suspense to feed you even if we have seen this before in films like REPULSION or GASLIGHT. Stone is very good in her role and all the last part in the apartment is very atmospheric and intriguing. The direction is really good and tries to innovate in a very good way. This movie is hard to find so if you find it for any chance try it.

“An American Carol” | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:23

Comedians Janine Brito and Graham Smith & I review  “An American Carol.” One of the guys who made “Airplane” wears his politics on his sleeve and his lunch on his shirt with this terrible political comedy. From Wikipedia: An American Carol is a 2008 American comedy film directed by David Zuckerand starring Kevin Farley. In some other countries the film is known as Big Fat Important Movie.  Presented from a conservative-leaning perspective, the film is a parody of liberal filmmaker Michael Moore that “lampoons contemporary American culture, particularly Hollywood.” It uses the framework of A Christmas Carol but moves the setting of the story from Christmas to Independence Day. The screenplay is written by Myrna Sokoloff and Zucker. The supporting cast includesKelsey Grammer, Jon Voight, Dennis Hopper, Trace Adkins, Gary Coleman,Jillian Murray and Leslie Nielsen. The film was released on October 3, 2008. Check out Graham’s podcast “News Whore”. Check Janine on the Twitter. If you enjoy today’s podcast share it on Facebook or Twitter or whatever you like. Also check out older shows. Some shows are reviews of bad films and other are interviews with the people who make them.

The Lloyd Kaufman Interview | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:00

Interview with Troma honcho Lloyd Kaufman. He’s directed and produced some classic cult films like “Toxic Avenger” and “Terror Firmir.” Lloyd discusses the state of independent films today and 40 years of survival despite a “media blackout.”   Also– How to crush a head on film. Hint: Don’t use a watermelon. Never a watermelon. Listen HERE or on Itunes on Stitcher or RSS. If you like the show, share it on Facebook, Digg, Reddit, Twitter etc. Sign up for our mailing list (Look to the right). Tell us what you think on our Facebook page.  Related episodes: Stars of “Return to Nuke’em High”  Live!    “Toxic Avenger” and “Class of Nuke’em High” star “Blair Witch Project’s” Michael C. Williams   from IMDB: Stanley Lloyd Kaufman never really wanted to make movies, but wanted to work in Broadway musicals. During his years in Yale, though, he got introduced to “B” pictures and the works of Roger Corman. Lloyd later got the opportunity to execu tive-produce a short movie made by a fellow student. The film, called “Rappacini”, got him even more interested in movies. He bought his own camera and took it with him to Chad, Africa, were he spent his summer. There, he shot a 15-minute film of a pig being slaughtered. That was his first movie, and was the birth of what was later to become known as Troma Films. He showed the footage of the squealing pig being killed to his family, and their shocked reaction to it made him wonder if making movies that shocked audiences would keep them in their seats to see what would happen next. He wanted to be a director right then and there, so he got a couple of friends at Yale and made his second movie, The Girl Who Returned (1969). People loved it, and he went straight to work on other films, helping out on projects like Joe (1970), Rocky (1976) andSaturday Night Fever (1977). Lloyd put in a lot of long, hard hours in the film business, just to be in the credits and to get money for his next project, a full-length feature. It was a tribute to Charles Chaplin,Harold Lloyd and the classic era of silent-film comedy. Even though Lloyd hated the movie when it was finally completed, people seemed to love it.

 “Return to Nuke’em High” Live! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:07

Live at the NYC Podfest – Guests: Christian Finnegan (Late Late Show) Mike C. Williams (Blair Witch Project) Asta Paredes & Catherine Corcoran (Return to Nuke’Em High) Robert Prichard (Class of Nuke Em High) and music from Ben Lerman. Of cours, hosted by me, Adam Spiegelman (Proudly Resents). I’m the one behind the laptop. First Asta and Catherine talked about their new “Nuke’em High” movie that opens at the Laemmle Noho this weekend.   Let’s all go to the Friday Midnight showing! This was a fun show to do. I got to meet a couple of actual listeners. The scene was fun. Downstairs at a bar on the edge of China Town. A 4 PM show brought in an ok crowd. I mean the people were great, the numbers were ok. “Better than last year,” I was told. Back to the live show, Christian was very funny as usual. The show came together as Lloyd Kaufman (Next week we’re airing a one-on-one interview!) canceled the live show. So he sent over the stars of his movie. Robert is a friend so I thought we’d make it a Troma Tribute. Ben Lerman@benlerman learned the original “Nuke’em High” theme song and then wrote one of his own. Check out this fun and unique episode. Tell me what you think. Next week, Lloyd Kaufman. Listen to past live shows… Birdemic With Eric Schaeffer, Frank Conniff (MST3K), Bryan Tucker (SNL head writer) and music from Rob Paravonian. “Heart Beeps” With Chris Gore, Jenna Busch, Conan/Fallon writer Josh Comers, comedian Brent Weinbach and R2-D2 (Tommy Bechtold). Plus Tony Clifton tells racist jokes! “Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas” with guests Jimmy Pardo, Todd Levin (Conan) and comedian Sharon Houston (Punk’d)
