E21 - Read the Bible for Life Conference (Part 1), A Community Shaped by Shema - George Guthrie

Summary: On the weekend of April 15, 2011, the Ryan Center for Biblical Studies at Union University hosted the READ THE BIBLE FOR LIFE conference. Almost 700 people, from a wide variety of churches and 13 different states were in attendance. It was a wonderful, powerful time together. In this first plenary session of the conference I share a vision for a "biblical," biblical literacy in the church, why we are struggling with this issue, and what we might do about it. In the three other plenary sessions at the conference, we hear from David Platt, pastor of The Church at Brook Hills and author of the book Radical. We also will listen in on a panel discussion between Me, Platt, and Michael Card.
