EPISODE 274 - Spanish Horror

Horroretc Podcast show

Summary: Welcome to an episode spotlighting the genre output of Spain. As we have done many times in the past, we love to focus in on a particular part of the world to discuss and explore the unique and original takes on horror a country has to offer. Spain has a long and prolific history of contributing to the genre and as such it was impossible to attempt a summary, instead we share a selection of recent watches from Spain and touch on some of the key figures in the industry such as Guillermo Del Toro (yes, we know the difference between Spain and Mexico), Paul Naschy, Jess Franco, etc. and look at some of the specific thematic stylings inherent in the work. There is a lengthly list of titles name checked to refresh our thoughts on Spanish films we have already covered along the way including Timecrimes, The Orphanage, The Uninvited Guest, Rec and many, many more. The new additions include Emergo / Apartment 143, Fermat's Room, Julia's Eyes, Sleep Tight, Shiver, Tombs of the Blind Dead, Fragile, La Cabina and several more. So pour yourself a Sangria and join us in what we envision as the first of what could be several episodes exploring the rich history of Spanish Horror. Rounding things out is a schlock corner looking at the first official trailer for World War Z, as well as some discussion of Skyfall, Star Wars and an obscure Fulci film House of Clocks.
