Episode 261 ANDROID CARTEL

BTE Podcast show

Summary: Since their inception on Chris Foriter’s Fade Records in 2007, Android Cartel has made a steady climb into the international underground dance music scene. Their brand of big room techno and tech house has been supported by taste making DJs Carl Cox, John Digweed, Luciano, Hernan Cattaneo, and many others. In 2009 Android Cartel made waves with their signature EP on Steve Lawler’s ViVa MUSiC with their track Robotic Redemption. Since that time, they’ve managed to secure signatures on established and respected labels petFood, Thoughtless Music, Rawthentic, Sleaze, and Noice!. Besides showcasing their sound on other labels, they have also managed to create two imprints of their own that have garnered much support from the house and techno communities. The first label, Sketchbook, holds techno as a focal point and is an outlet for artists to not only share their full productions, but also strip down their productions and offer their creations in a format that compliments modern DJ technology. It's an exciting new paradigm for the cutting edge world of electronic dance music, shattering the notion of a track being finished product. Sketchbook gives a sneak peak into the way many, if not all, digital tracks will be sold in the future - a precursor of things to come. The second label, Riff Raff, is a tech house and house label that was started as a platform for associates of Android Cartel to showcase and share their productions. It’s a more relaxed medium, but has had releases supported by Danny Tenaglia, Loco Dice, Maceo Plex, SLAM, Marco Carola, Carlo Lio, Butch, and many others. As if producing and running the record labels weren’t enough, Android Cartel has also built up a solid DJ reputation on the Southern California club and festival circuit. As of late, the duo has performed at notable festivals Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Music Festival Miami, Lightning in a Bottle, Beyond Wonderland, and Escape From Wonderland. They have also played along side Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli, Heidi, and Audiofly, Josh Wink, Guy J, and Robert Babicz in Hollywood’s biggest nightclubs like The Avalon, The Playhouse, and The Vanguard. They also host a monthly radio show “Expressions in Sound” on Proton Radio that showcases their wide range of talent and taste in music. http://www.androidcartel.com/ jenwa@androidcartel.com
