Understanding the Risks of Investing for Income

Lazard Asset Management show

Summary: In the early 1980s, the Federal Funds target rate was approximately 20% and, for the next 20 years, 10-year U.S. Treasury yields were rarely below 6%. During this time, income-seeking strategies were supported by strong growth, little impairment, and a high level of liquidity. Today, with the Federal Funds target rate between 0% and 0.25%, income-oriented investors are forced to take more risk in order to meet desired income targets.
