G.I. Joe the Rise of Cobra, Julie & Julia, A Pefect Getaway

Film Geek Central show

Summary: Fighting for freedom wherever there's trouble, Film Geek Central has another great show for you this week. First up, Stephen Sommers brings one of the icons of our childhood to the big screen. It looks like they just decided to go all out and create a hokey, cornball epic for the summer. Will we get one, or will we wind up looking back at MEGAFORCE with fond memories? In JULIE & JULIA, we have the first major Hollywood film about a blogger. Amy Adams is a woman who, with no direction in her life, decides to tackle every recipe in Julia Child's legendary cookbook. At the same time, we flash back to the life of Julia Child (Meryl Streep), who it turns out didn't always have a great deal of direction herself. This is summer counter-programming and we'll break it down. Next, we have A PERFECT GETAWAY. This is a high-octane thriller from David Twohy, a talented director who has some really bad luck unfortunately (check out BELOW, because no one else did). Cult movie icon Milla Jovovich stars along with Timothy Olyphant, Steve Zahn and Kiele Sanchez. We'll also look at DVD releases such as OBSESSED, RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN, THE SOLOIST, DELGO and more. And of course, we start out with the newest news from the film industry, particularly the passing of John Hughes. Hope to see you there, film geeks!
