Summary: This episode will be all about Webcams and toying with them, software reviewed is Webcam, Hasciicam and Wacaw, for Linux, BSD and MacOSX. All Gnu GPL software. I. multimedia software : Webcam webcam captures images from a video4linux device like bttv, annotates them and and uploads them to a webserver using ftp in a endless loop. linux.bytesex.org/xawtv/ II. multimedia software : (h)asciicam HasciiCam makes it possible to have live ascii video on the web. It captures video from a tv card and renders it into ascii letters, formatting the output into an html page with a refresh tag, or in a live ascii window, or in a simple text file. It gives the possiblity to anybody that has a bttv card, a unix box and a cheap modem line to show live (h)ascii video can be viewed without any need for extra applications, plugins, java etc. ascii.dyne.org dynebolic.org III. multimedia software : wacaw A collection of tools and scripts for processing images and video from attached USB and FireWire webcams on Mac OS X.
