Their time together as a unit clearly shows on this groovy tune. Upcoming show: Tuesday, October 2nd at The Royal Room, 8pm Visit His Site Track 3: Michael Owcharuk Trio – “Spinnin’” Pianist and accordionist Michael Owcharuk brings his trio to Vito’s, a venue quickly re-establishing itself on the local music scene, particularly in the jazz community. Upcoming show: Wednesday, October 3rd at Vito’s Visit Their Site Track 4: Clave Gringa – “Songo Borracho” Clave Gringa is a Seattle-based Latin jazz ensemble showcasing the compositions of Ann-ita Reynolds, along with fellow bandmates Daniel Berry, Dan O’Brien, Edsson Otero, and Ernesto Pediango. Ann-ita Reynolds is a regular with the Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra, so you may have heard her before, but this is the podcast debut of Clave Gringa… Upcoming show: Thursday, October 4th at Tula’s Buy This Album Track 5: The Schwa “Western Shirts and the Creaking Chair” from “Cosmonaut Cowboy”  The Schwa came together after a years long courtship of a rotating cast of Seattle’s all-star improvisers, eventually settling on percussionist Bob Rees, multi reedist Chris Credit, and upright bassist Geoff Larson. Vibraphonist Justin Sorensen conceived of an idea for a band that would fuse together ambient music and avant garde jazz in hope of better understanding time, place, and emotion. As a composer Sorensen uses the muse of common occurrences in daily life to strengthen his connection to place. The Northwest, famous for its dark, gray, rain soaked months are perfect for The Schwa as they aim to find all that is beautiful within them. Upcoming show: Friday, October 5th at The Royal Room, 8:30pm Click to Buy Track 6: Reptet “Milky Shakes” from “At The Cabin” One of our favorites on the show, this is a composition of trumpeter Samantha Boshnack with Isaak Mills, Chris Credit on alto, Nelson Bell on tuba, Tim Carey on bass and John Ewing on drums. A super fun band on a great double-bill this Friday. Upcoming show: Friday, October 5th at The Royal Room, 9:30pm Click to Buy Track 7: Bill Anschell with Brent Jensen “What Is This Thing Called Love?” from “We Couldn’t Agree More” Bill Anschell brings his new Standards Trio — with Jeff Johnson on bass and D’Vonne Lewis on drums — to Tula’s Friday night. The group is fairly new, so no recordings as yet, but here he is playing a great Cole Porter standard in duo format with saxophonist Brent Jensen.
