A Pod of Their Own, Episode 175: Clubhouse chemistry, things of that nature

Home Run Applesauce: A New York Mets podcast show

Summary: Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by talking about the truly heinous lineup the Mets put forward against the Braves in Game 1 of Saturday’s doubleheader and debate whether it’s worse than the 2015 lineup in which John Mayberry Jr. batted cleanup.  We then discussed an encouraging piece by Ken Rosenthal in The Athletic that indicated that the Mets do plan to spend money in the offseason. It also contained the framework for a potential Pete Alonso extension, which we wholeheartedly support in spite of unfounded allegations that Alonso is a clubhouse cancer. In our baseball segment this week, we talk about recent comments by Athletics team president Dave Kaval and disturbing allegations that Wander Franco engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a minor.  Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Home Run Applesauce podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.
