Ep 90 - Paul Hoelen

Landscape Photography World show

Summary: Born in New Zealand to a Dutch boatbuilder and an American Nun, Paul Hoelen has managed to put his four passports to good use. After much exploring he eventually chose to base himself in the beautiful, wild island of Tasmania in 1998.   Paul has won numerous accolades and awards for his imagery both nationally and internationally, including three times winner of the AIPP Tasmanian Professional Photographer of the Year, six times AIPP Tasmanian Landscape Photographer Photographer of the Year and two times Overseas Photographer of the Year in NZ. On an industry level he has been awarded AIPP Master of Photography and a Fellow of the NZIPP. He judges regularly at a state, national and international level and writes regularly for several magazines. He is also an industry ambassador for Asukabook in Australia and New Zealand and his fine art work is represented by One Fine Print and the Source Photographica Galleries in Melbourne and Aspen USA. He is also a proud member of the exciting and progressive fine art landscape collaborative The Light Collective.   When not travelling for his destination based projects, his work is based in Hobart. He works commercially with many Tasmanian based hotels and businesses, shoots a large range of events, captures boutique weddings and unique natural light portraiture, and continues to build his collection of unique fine art landscapes.   We discuss the landscape photography culture in Tasmania, the contradictions of conservation and social media exposure of wilderness areas along with much much more!   I hope you enjoy the show!
