Clift writes about politics and policy in Washington and the partisan clashes that make governing almost impossible. Eleanor has covered every presidential campaign since 1976. As a reporter in Newsweek’s Atlanta bureau, Clift covered Jimmy Carter’s bid for the presidency. She followed Carter to Washington to become Newsweek’s White House correspondent, a position she held until 1985. She is best known as a panelist on the syndicated talk show, “The McLaughlin Group,” which ended a 34-year run in 2016. Eleanor lives in Washington, DC, where she is on the advisory council of the International Women’s Media Foundation, the board of the American News Women’s Club, the board of governors of the National Hospice Foundation and the board of Respect Ability, which advocates for people with disabilities. She has written four books, co-authored two and has appeared as herself in three movies and several documentaries and television series. MESSAGE FROM UNITED STATES SENATOR MICHAEL D. BROWN Eleanor Clift and I will discuss the results of the General Election, which seem to be more of a "red ripple" than a "red wave." What will this mean for the Biden administration and, more importantly, what will it mean for the District which is subject to the control of Congress? I look forward to hearing Eleanor's insights on politics in America, the divide in public opinion and what she sees going forward with our economy and for our community. You are invited to tune into, and participate in, our post-election conversation as we discuss where America is now headed after the midterms.
