Summary: "We have such sights to show you..." We kick off our Hellraiser franchise retrospective with a feature length audio commentary to the seminal 1987 Clive Barker classic film! Original, unsettling, and defying all categorization Hellraiser introduced many horror fans to the distorted imagination of Barker's self described 'celebration of perversity'. The film led to a string of sequels that formed a rather disjointed franchise but this week we focus solely on the original, discussing the effect and impact of the film, comparison to the short story upon which it was based Hellbound Heart, and generally enjoy a rewatch of one of our favorite horror movies. If you are new to Hellraiser, we highly recommend tracking down a copy for a genuine outside the box horror experience lacking any semblance of 80's kitsch, for those well familiar, please join us for a revisit of such iconic moments as the practical effect driven resurrection of Frank Cotton, the discovery of the sights and sounds unlocked by a mysterious puzzle box, and of course the unforgettable cenobites and the birth of a horror icon (aka Pinhead).
