But one comment made me stop and think. Long time friend and mentor Brian Ballard made the point the tips are all well and good but you don’t say why does the average person need to have good PS skills? So I’m going to tell you. PS isn’t just about standing up in front of 50 people and speaking - believe it when I say whatever your occupation or interest you need to be a good public speaker Whether you be at work, school, or in your personal life, being a good PS will be of huge benefit to you. Why? well It enables you to inform, persuade and entertain. It could be in your social group, when you want to make a point or bring them across to your way of thinking. A good PS can motivate others to make change for the better. It helps you share information with others. If you’re a salesperson You can set higher goals, get more customers and make more sales with better public speaking skills.    If your looking for a promotion or applying for a job. being a better communicator will make you more impressive in interviews.   It will help you Stand out in the workforce and among your friends:   Most people avoid speaking up and putting themselves in the spotlight, but with public speaking skills you have the confidence to take charge. You can become a thought leader: someone who people go to for ideas, consult about problems, and much more. No less a luminary than Warren Buffett once said, developing public speaking skills can increase your net worth by 50%. He’s a man who was terrified PS but took a course, and attributes it to helping him become one of the richest and most successful men in the world. being a good public speaker will give you confidence whatever you do in life. Having confidence will mean you won’t freeze up when giving an after dinner speech at your daughters wedding, or delivering a sales report in front of the board, or even chatting with your mates about where’s the best place to go for a holiday. Look at Public Speaking simply as communicating - and that’s something we all do every day of our lives - Don’t you owe it to yourself to become better at it?
