Her first novel, Skin, was nominated for the Voss Literary Prize and the Aurealis Awards in 2016, and went on to be published in eight countries. The follow up, Songwoman, received the Most Underrated Book Award in 2019, and there is a third novel on the way. Ilka teaches fiction at RMIT University.
