Magnesium helps lower the side effects of taking vitamin D, even though the side effects are not from vitamin D—they’re from a magnesium deficiency. Most people have a subclinical magnesium deficiency. </p> <p><br></p> <p>Magnesium:</p> <p> • Is a cofactor for 300 enzymes </p> <p> • Is involved in protein synthesis </p> <p> • Helps regulate blood sugars</p> <p> • Is involved in energy production</p> <p> • Is involved in making glutathione </p> <p><br></p> <p>The only side effect of vitamin D (large amounts without vitamin K2) could be hypercalcemia symptoms.
