Summary:
Dream Job Ready Episode 02: Neil Ridgway (Chief Brand & Marketing Officer, Rip Curl)

Call me sentimental, but I couldn't think of anyone better to be Guest #1 on Dream Job Ready. I have known Neil for over 20 years and owe several of my dream jobs to him and his mentorship.

Neil spent 10 years working in magazines and media, editing and publishing titles such as Tracks Magazine, FHM Australia, New Woman and Smash Hits in their heyday. He eventually left media to take a dream job at Rip Curl, in 2003, and has now been with the surfing company, steering the brand's marketing agenda, for over 17 years...

We cover plenty in this interview. We discuss Neil’s role at Rip Curl and what it takes to get a job and be successful with the brand. We talk about the importance of saying Yes to opportunities… and then building up the type of experience and cred that allows you to knock back some in the future. We discuss his relationship with 3 x time surfing world champion Mick Fanning. And we talk a lot about getting a start in your career.

Thanks for listening, rating, subscribing and sharing Dream Job Ready.
