Episode-2613- Why Homesteading is one of the best “Preps” you can Make

The Survival Podcast show

Summary: We have talked a lot about homesteading over the years, in fact one of my biggest early hit shows was called “From Home to Homestead” first published all the way back in July of 2008.  To make the point of how long I have been teaching this concept, that was episode 20 of this podcast and today we are doing episode 2613. I have taught this approach from two primary angles.  The first being the economic ROI by converting homes which for most Americans are consumers into producers.  The other angle has been the health and well being aspect.  I firmly feel humans are natural hunters, gathers, horticulturists and predisposed to animal husbandry.  While I have been accused of forcing that view on reality, 10s of thousands of years of human history seem to back up my claim. I have always said homestead was natural if you wanted to be a prepper, but I never really focused on it much.  My view is if something creates preparedness, just teach it for all its merits and preparedness happens naturally, the way it did prior to what I refer to as “the microwave generation”. Join Me Today to Discuss… Quote of the day – “I have always believed it better to be settled on a small farm, just sufficient to furnish the table.” ~ Thomas Jefferson The Corona virus mutated, why that is as bad as is being reported Today’s show is not about corona virus but please think about how everything we cover applies to the current situation The concept of homesteading is as follows Increase what you home/land produces Reduce what you home/land consumes Store sufficient resources to keep things running Have the skills and knowledge to build or make what you need and fix what breaks Develop small enterprises, entrepreneurial activities, etc Some thing I can rely on during a crisis, quarantine, etc. due to homesteading I can make alcohol including very high proof “fuel” We produce as many eggs as we could ever eat (protein and fat) lots of feed in reserve I can produce more vegetative nutrition then I could hope to consume I have a ton of seed and know how to make more via seed saving I have thousands of gallons of rain catch for irrigation and I own a Berkey filter I am on a well and septic system, not dependent on grid water I can grow food indoors, in a green house, on the land, etc Fruit season is about to come Wild edibles are about to be all over my land I have enough fish to feed us for months in my ponds I have a generator if the grid goes down and lot of fuel I know local resources to forage food where any risk of contagion is low to non existent I have herbal medicine knowledge My property is well defended against all types of “predators” I have knowledge and resources for multiple was to preserve food I have always said there is no downside to prepping, homesteading is a kind of prepping Keep in mind we may have shortages on somethings but not all things, and this too shall pass It helps us live a better life, if times get tough or even if they don’t   Resources for today’s show… Follow Life With Jack on Instagram TSP Facebook Group Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom TspAz.com The Granddaddy’s Gun Club Quercetin on Amazon If – Read by Sir Michael Cain My Give a Damn’s Busted – Joe Dee Messina   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.
