The Stable: Justin Houston, Clayton Geathers, and FA Impact on the Draft

Stampede Blue: for Indianapolis Colts fans show

Summary: Free Agency is starting to wind down as most of the top targets are off the board. However, the Colts are just heating up. This is Ballards favorite time to start getting aggressive as he believes he can find some diamonds in the rough or proven veterans on good deals. This year the diamond in the rough might be Devin Funchess. The proven veteran ? Well we just got our answer. The Colts went out and signed Justin Houston from the Kansas City Chiefs to a 24 million dollar deal over two years. It is the perfect example of why we need to have some faith and trust in Ballard. Justin Houston was a 3-4 outside linebacker but will play 4-3 DE with the Indianapolis Colts. While some may think this is an issue I believe that Houston will excel and fit perfectly in his new spot. If Houston can get back to double digit sacks and stay healthy he is an important addition to an already stout defensive line here in Indianapolis. Check out Zachary Hicks article for a film breakdown of Houston. The Colts also brought back Clayton Geathers on a one year prove it deal. The media got tired of mocking the Colts a CB and switched to mocking us a safety. I don’t necessarily disagree but with Farley and Geathers back on the team I am not sure it is such a high need anymore. The Colts have added a defensive end, a wide receiver and re-signed many of their own at key positions. It makes the question of what is the Colts biggest need less clear. The Colts could go best player available and many of us would still be happy.  I tackle the Colts biggest needs and Indy Star’s Zach Keefer chimes in on his thoughts about the Colts moves.
