Pin Cushion Minisode

Cinema For All Podcast show

Summary: It’s our first minisode! Jaq catches up with writer/ director of new British indie film Pin Cushion Deborah Haywood, as well as one of the stars, Joanna Scanlan (In the Loop, The Thick of It, The Woman in White). They talk women in film, working class cinema, what it feels like to play a bullied character and the importance of volunteer-led cinema. Pin Cushion tells the story of mother Lyn and daughter Iona (Lily Newmark), who are best friends and move to a new town. Determined to make a success of things after a tricky start, Iona try to ingratiate herself with the popular girls leaving Lyn feeling left out. As much as Lyn and Iona pretend to each other that things are fine, things aren't going great for either of them. Both mother and daughter retreat into fantasy and lies. Out now in UK cinemas! The Cinema For All podcast is proud to be supported by the BFI, awarding funds from the National Lottery.
