At Vesuvio, a 70th anniversary party for the hometown crowd

San Francisco Chronicle Arts & Entertainment - Spoken Edition show

Summary: There were crowds inside and out, but the heart of the Sunday, Sept. 30, celebration of the 70th anniversary of Vesuvio was out in Jack Kerouac Alley, where Barrio Manouche was playing. Long rows of chairs had been lined up along one side of the alley, opposite the band. Alongside the band, dancing her own solo dance, a woman in a red dress was a free spirit in one of San Francisco’s most free-spirited neighborhoods.
