CBS Sports Radio Show -9/2/18: Michael Lombardi, Vinny Bonsignore, Gilbert Manzano & More

Silver and Black Today Show show

Summary: Silver and Black Today became Raider Nation's Sunday morning therapy session as we discussed the big news of the Khalil Mack trade and what it means for the Raiders moving forward. Former NFL general manager and player personnel executive Michael Lombardi of The Athletic joined us to give us his insight on why the deal is better for the Raiders than most think. He also stated it was the right move if Jon Gruden is following a philosophy similar to Bill Belichick in New England. Vinny Bonsignore of The Athletic also gave us his level-headed view of the trade and told us why it's a much different situation than the Los Angeles Rams found themselves in with Aaron Donald. He also discusses the long-term view of what it means for Oakland as they head toward the move to Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Review-Journal's Gilbert Manzano helped us with some insight into the trade but also broke down the 53-man roster cuts that seemed to get lost in the Mack trade news. That included the release of wide receiver Martavis Bryant who was acquired during the draft for a third-round draft pick. Manazano says everyone was surprised by the trade which is why media reaction has been very spirited. In our second hour we shifted attention to the future of the Raiders - Las Vegas. Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Sun gave us the lowdown on the team's initial parking plan for the new Las Vegas Stadium. Although there have been some vocal critics of the plan which utilizes off-premisis parking and a system of shuttle buses, Akers said the plan is very much like other NFL stadiums. In our final interview of the day, Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board member Tommy White stopped by the CBS Sports Radio studios to give us the latest on the constructon of the stadium. White said the project has faced some challenges caused by the unprecedented weather the area encountered this summer but that the project is right on schedule.
