Ep. 9: The Hurt Bae

Summary: The timing of this release may be a little ironic considering it's off the heel of #hurtbae (definitely not intentional). However, this hashtag serves as a catalyst to a two-part series about being in abusive relationships. In this episode I share my story, that few people know about, with former CPS worker Lenny Jennison of Victims' Voice. My story is not unique by any stretch of the imagination, considering that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of abuse by their romantic partner in their lifetime. However, I believe it delves deeper than where #hurtbae only scratched the surface. For those who know me, this story may come as a shock...especially the ones who know the "I don't take shit from anyone" side of me--trust me I was not always that way (and honestly to this day I'm still embarrassed). I implore you to listen, if not for my story (which is not unique or extraordinary), to the advice and resources Lenny gives. If you are not or have not been in an abusive relationship, share it with someone who is or someone you fear who may be.
