Summary: From the earliest years of enslavement in North America, Africans fought back and also debated the best ways to resist. This talk will focus on the most militant form of resistance -- collective revolt -- including the course and consequences of some major revolts and, as far as we can reconstruct them, the ideas that led the rebels to rise up in the ways they did.
