EPA Vacates Registration For Sulfoxaflor

The Organic View show

Summary: Sulfoxaflor is a systemic pesticide from the sulfamine family which is used primarily on number of major crops, including cotton, soybean, citrus, pome/stone fruit, nuts, grapes, potatoes, vegetables and strawberries. It has been the subject of a major controversy because of its impact on bee health. Regardless of the overwhelming public concern, sulfoxaflor was granted registration in 2013. Now, after a long, two-year battle, EPA must vacate the registration for this pesticide. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Michele Colopy, Program Director of the Pollinator Stewardship Council about the recent decision as to why the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated EPA's unconditional registration of Sulfoxaflor.
