2014-12-27: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Glen Meakem | Veteran Entrepreneur » Show show

Summary: This weekend between Christmas and the New Year, Glen revisits several great moments in the history of “Glen Meakem on the Weekend.”  First, Glen talks with Pennsylvania Businessman Wayne Woodman about the importance of standing on your own two feet – independent of Government – if you want to be successful in life.  Glen also talks with two World War II veterans about their combat experiences.  Jack Synder was as a 19-year-old Marine who fought the Imperial Japanese at Iwo Jima. Jack survived 26 days of intense combat.  Frank Kravetz was a gunner on a B-17 bomber, was shot down over Germany, and is a former Prisoner of War.  Frank talks about his experiences as a soldier, and his experiences as a German captive held at the Nuremberg Prison Camp in 1944 and 1945. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Glen Meakem is a successful technology entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and conservative talk radio show host, who offers information and insights on how individuals, our states, and our nation can be more successful. Glen’s unique perspective has been shaped by his experiences as founder, chairman and CEO of the B2B internet success Freemarkets Inc – which he founded in 1995, took public in 1999, and sold to Ariba in 2004. In 2006, Glen co-founded Meakem Becker Venture Capital, a firm that invests in early stage start up companies.  More recently, Glen has founded and is the Chief Executive Officer of a new internet company calledForever.com.  Concerned about the liberal political agenda that had gripped the United States and his home state of Pennsylvania, Glen launched the radio program, “Glen Meakem on the Weekend” in 2008. Glen served as an officer in the United States Army Reserve and is a veteran of the First Gulf War. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
