I was adopted at a week old, and growing up with no-one around me that looked like me; I would often feel alone – as if I was some kind of little alien creature that had landed in this place and wasn’t sure how I got there.”<br> Brioni grew up knowing that she was adopted.<br> “I’m really grateful to my family for telling me early on, so that I grew up knowing. As far as I have discovered for both myself and other adoptees; there is a painful sense of not-belonging, of being alone – that comes with being adopted. The beauty in this is that it forces you to find out who you are, on your own. It makes you ask the big questions.”<br> Brioni loves to explore and understand human behaviour.<br> “What I found was that when it comes to being human we’re all the same. We all go through the same things; we all feel the same things. There’s nothing you can be going through that someone else hasn’t gone through before, and in that way, we’re not alone.”<br> “You’re not alone” is a call to action – to get your life on track.<br> “The song is about breaking through the fears and perceptions that are holding you back. It’s about listening to your inner voice and asking the big questions. We all have baggage that we collect when growing up, and that’s what becomes the fuel to your fire. When you can see the beauty and blessings and be grateful for your life – there is no stopping you.”<br> The You’re Not Alone EP is release #7 for Brioni through Get On Down Records, and is available from April 4th. The EP includes a brilliant selection of remixes ranging from uplifting trance to drum and bass.<br> “There’s so much heart in this song. While I wrote the lyrics, the music was written by myself, Braddon Gilbert and Nige-B. All 3 of us literally had tears of inspiration while working on it.”<br> Enjoy!
