Adam Carolla: Patent trolls and podcasting

Summary: It's a change of pace for the podcast, as we welcome noted comedian/podcaster Adam Carolla to the show, talking trolls. Patent trolls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patent_troll), specifically. Carolla, along with a few other high profile podcasters, are being sued by a company called Personal Audio LLC who claim he - and all podcasters - are violating absurdly broad patents they hold on the infrastructure of podcasting, and basically the concept of podcasting generally. The same company has sued a bunch of companies, fishing for settlements, with some success. Carolla, however, is fighting back. We talk to him about patent trolls, why he's chosen to take a stand, how people can help, and why they need to. A couple ways interested parties can help... First, Donating to Carolla's legal defense fund (http://fundanything.com/patenttroll?locale=en), and second by attending a fundraiser next week at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center (http://www.laughstub.com/event.cfm?id=304335), featuring Carolla, Marc Maron, Jimmy Kimmel, and more. Interesting stuff on an issue you may not be familiar with. It will not give you a higher opinion of lawyers or our legal system.
