Summary: <p>CURBING THE OVERUSE OF ANTIBIOTICS: Antibiotic-resistant "superbugs" are now rampant in the U.S., causing 23,000 deaths a year. Overprescription of antibiotics is one of the main culprits, yet American doctors continue to prescribe the drugs at one of the highest rates in the world. Adding to the issue is the widespread use of antibiotics for livestock.
