Summary: Ekev – On the Heel Of This portion speaks to how quickly Yah will respond in a positive way to Israel's obedience. There is also a review of the reasons why Israel suffered in the wilderness from lack of water and food at various times. Yah wanted Israel to learn from their experience that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from Yah. Moses also reminds Israel of how they had provoked Yah to anger in the wilderness. Finally, this portion recounts how Moses cut out the second set of stone tablets and took them up the mountain for Yah to rewrite the Ten Commandments on them. Ekev ends like it began, making positive statements of God's speedy blessings when we obey.
