Summary: - Prov. 1:7, Prov. 4:7 NKJV, NLT, NIV, Prov. 16:16, Prov. 23:23 ESV, Prov. 16:1-12 - God wants us to be wise - wisdom is different from knowledge - Prov. 3:19-20 - wise living is living with the grain of wisdom in the work rather than against it. - Because God laid the earth’s foundation using wisdom, the world around us bears wisdom’s imprint. So by looking at creation we can see and understand God’s wisdom. - Working definitions of wisdom: - Knowledge is knowing the facts, wisdom is the art and skill of understanding of when, where and how to apply what you know. - Wise living is discerning the structure and order that God built into the world, and then living our lives in harmony with that order and structure. - What are "Proverbs"? - one of three books in the Bible that belong to the category of wisdom literature. - Proverbs are short, memorable sayings whose meanings are relevant to many different situations. - Proverbs are always true, there are a few times when they aren't true. (Prov. 15:1, 10:27)
