Summary: This episode of Low Times is full of great stories. Georgia Hubley from Yo La Tengo discusses the early days of Yo La Tengo and recounts its time opening for and playing with some of the biggest icons in musical history. Dan Friel from Parts & Labor talks about the demise of his band and tells us about the worst show he's ever played. Then, Jennifer O'Connor tells us about wanting to get into the "hook writing" game and her time on Matador Records. Georgia Hubley is the drummer and vocalist for indie rock icons Yo La Tengo. She spoke to Tom Scharpling the day after finishing its annual Hanukkah shows about her early days in music, opening for Johnny Cash and a not so pleasant run-in with Henry Rollins. Dan Friel is the vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist in the soon to be defunct Parts & Labor. He talked to Maggie Serota about the end of the band, his plans for the future and recounts a nightmare show they played in Texas.   Jennifer O'Connor is a singer-songwriter living and working in Brooklyn, NY. She dropped by Low Times HQ to discuss her love of Kanye West, successful and disastrous opening slots and why her mom only wants her to play with Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls.  Subscribe: iTunes | RSS Download: Episode 5 Play:
