Summary: Dr. Sauvage is a world famous heart surgeon, humanitarian and author. Born and raised in the state of Washington, he once aspired to be a major league baseball player, but his mother convinced and encouraged him to pursue a career in medicine. He studied medicine at an accelerated program to train military doctors and at the age of 17, he became a student at St. Louis University where he specialized in cardiovascular medicine. He later graduated at the top of his class and completed an internship at King County Hospital. In the early 1950s, Dr. Sauvage was called into active duty in the US Army and he served in World War II and the Korean War. Upon his return, he eventually worked for the Settle Medical Center and settled in Settle where he lives with his wife. He is also the author of “The Open Heart,” “You Can Beat Heart Disease,” and “The Better Life Diet.” Today, Eli Chiaviello joins us to talk about Dr. Sauvages new book: “Open Your Heart to the Magic of Love.”
