Summary: Police and Crime Commissioners have faced numerous negative headlines over the past few weeks. They have been criticised for appointing friends and political colleagues to highly paid positions, putting forward eccentric policies or alternatively doing very little at all. So is this criticism fair? Six months after 41 Commissioners were elected across England and Wales, The Report assesses whether the criticisms can be put down to teething problems, or whether there are fundamental issues with this flagship reform of policing.
