Summary: The loyalty to the M-14 is as old as the argument about 7.62 versus 5.56... well in fact just as old since it was started when the M-16 replaced the 14. Though the M-14 was the shortest lived service rifle of the 20th century and in fact the shortest lived service rifle of the U.S. military it none the less is important to the story of the military's development over the last fifty years.
