Summary: THE CUBAN FIVE. A growing chorus of legislators, human rights activists and unionists is calling on President Obama to free the “Cuban Five”. This is a group of Cuban intelligence officers who came to the United States to monitor U.S.-based groups engaged in what they considered terrorist acts against Cuban civilians. They were arrested and have served 15 years in federal prison. Human rights activists are lobbying and holding rallies, calling their sentences unusually harsh and unjust.
