Don't forget to stop by ArabicPod101.com for more great Arabic Language Learning Resources! -------Lesson Dialog------- ----Formal ---- محمد القصابجي هو من بين أفضل خمسة مؤلفين مصريين في القرن العشرين، كان محمد القصابجي مشهورا بمهارته المنتقاة بعناية في ابتكار القطع الفنية لمعزوفاته على العود. قام بتدريس الفنان الكبير محمد عبد الوهاب في فن عزف العود في أوائل العشرينيات و ألف أغاني للمطربة المشهورة أم كلثوم. ولد عام 1892 في القاهرة، تعلم محمد القصابجي عزف العود من والده. انتقل بعد ذلك الى مهنة الموسيقى في عمر 19 عندما بدأ في الكتابة للمغنين الشباب الآخرين. كحال سيد درويش و طالبه محمد عبد الوهاب، أدخل القصابجي أيضا الألحان و الإيقاعات الغربية الى الأساليب العربية الكلاسيكية و أدخل الأدوات الغربية الى الأوركسترا الخاصة به. باعتباره سيد العود ، قام محمد القصابجي أيضا بتأليف الموسيقى للأفلام و المسرحيات. يعرف محمد القصابجي ضمن بعض الدوائر بعازف العود لأم كلثوم، وفي حين أنه غنى عادة معها و ألف العديد من أغانيها، فانه قد عمل أيضا مع كبار الفنانين المصريين الآخرين مثل زكي مراد و سيد الصافطي. التقى بأم كلثوم في 1924 ، وفي البداية ألف موسيقى الأغاني الوطنية والمونولوجات. مع الوقت، تغير أسلوبه معها إلى الشعر الطويل و أصبحت تلك الأغاني تحفة فنية في الموسيقى المصرية. القصابجي هو الذي شجع أم كلثوم على الانتقال من الغناء في النوادي الليلية الى المسرح حيث ساعدها ذلك على رفع مستوى موسيقاها و احترامها. من أفضل أعماله المحبوبة—ليت للبراق أعين، ذكريات، يا طيور، و يا صباح الخير. توفي محمد القصابجي عام 1966 ، وتخليدا لذكراه ، أبقت أم كلثوم كرسيه على خشبة المسرح أثناء غنائها ----Formal English---- Mohamed Al-Qasabji Numbered in the top five of Egyptian music composers in the 20th century, Mohamed Al-Qasabji was known for his exquisite skill in creating pieces and for his oud playing. He instructed the great Mohamed Abdel Wahab in the art of playing the oud in the early 1920s and composed songs for the renowned singer, Umm Kulthum. Born in 1892 in Cairo, Mohamed Al-Qasabji learned to play the oud from his father. He later moved into the music profession by the age of 19 when he began writing for other young singers. Like Sayed Darwish and his student Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Al-Qasabji also incorporated western melodies and rhythms with classical Arabic styles and included western instruments in his orchestra. Considered the master of the oud, Mohamed Al-Qasabji also composed music for movies and plays. In some circles, Mohamed Al-Qasabji is primarily known as Umm Kulthum’s oud player, and while he did perform with her often and compose many of her songs, he also worked with other Egyptian greats like Zaki Mourad and Sayed Al-Safti. He met Umm Kulthum in 1924 and initially he composed national songs and monologues. Over time, his style for her changed to long poetry and these songs have become masterpieces of Egyptian music. It was Al-Qasabji who encouraged Umm Kulthum to move from singing at nightclubs to the theatre where she helped to raise the profile and respectability of her music. Some of his best loved works include—Leit lilburak a’yna, Zikrayat, Ya tuyour, and Ya sabah el kheir.
