Summary: Next in the series of service rifles of the 20th Century is the Springfield Armory M1903. This was the rifle that for the first time saw all three primary armed forces utilizing the same service rifle. Prior to this the Army and the Navy (USMC shared the same weapons) each had separate platforms and separate calibers. The 1903 gave birth to the 30-06 which would spawn everything from the .270 up to the .300 Magnums.
