SFMOMA Artcasts: Art from South Africa: February 2013 (no images)

SFMOMA Artcasts show

Summary: Our February Artcast centers on the art of South Africa. David Goldblatt, a photographer featured in the exhibition "South Africa in Apartheid and After," reflects on the challenges of capturing a divided society in his series "In Boksburg." Next up, we present an interview conducted in South Africa in 2011 in which photographer Zanele Muholi explains her series "Faces and Phases," a project that gives a visual identity and documented history to queer blacks in that country. Wrapping up the episode, SFMOMA curator Dominic Willsdon talks about a recent research trip to South Africa and the upcoming exhibition "Public Intimacy," which will be on view at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in February 2014. Each SFMOMA Artcast brings you illuminating audio and video interviews with artists, curators, and visitors as they respond to the works on view and in the museum's collection.
