Two Marketing Laws

Today we're gonna be talking about the two fundamental rules or philosophies for building online business no matter what niche you're in. The first one is building a list profitably. In other words, making money while you're building your list and the second is marketing to that list. So the first thing, as far as building your list profitably, there are a few ways to do it. The first typical way to do it to drive traffic whether to a paid ad or swapping traffic or going out there and building visitors to your site by doing things like forum marketing, article marketing, guest blogging things like that. Either way you're driving traffic to your site. What you're gonna offer them, the visitors that come to your site, is either something for free and then offer them anything in a discount or you're gonna offer them anything at a discount first and then if they say “No” to that you can say “Hey, let me give you a free trial or a free example” in order to get them on your list. Now both of these work and you have to find out in your niche or audience which ones gonna work better whether offer them something for free and say “Hey, because you're a reader of mine now and I'd like to have you as a customer, I'd like to give you this significant discount” or if you wanna start out with “Welcome, here's a significant discount. You had great timing” and if they say “No” to that and they're going to leave. You have an exit pop up that show up that says “Before you go, why not download the first chapter for free or check out the first module for free or as a gift for visiting, here's a free report that shows how to do AB and C.” That's the first part. The second part as far as profiting from your list once you have it. There's a few ways you can do this. One is to email out offers for your own products or affiliate products. Two is to sell advertising space in your email newsletter. In other words, you can say to another marketer “If you'd like me to send an email to my list, pay me X amount of dollars and I'll send it out in your offer in there”. The other way is to have advertising space on your actual blog so whether its in a form of banners whether its a header banner, footer banner or in the actual blog post maybe half way through or at the end you can have an advertisement spot. One of the things that you wanna reconsider is if this is going to hurt your relationship with your customers to have advertisements in there and the other thing that you gonna wanna do even if you decide “You know what, this wouldn't hurt. This is normal to have advertisements in there for my niche” is to make sure that its still targeted. You don't want to  be selling hamburgers on a site that about being a vegan.
