Overtime and Overworked | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:58:36

In this episode, we break down the many problems with working overtime -- from the impact long hours has on physical, mental and spiritual health to strains on relationships. Several medical studies affirm working more than 40 hours per week often comes at the expense of these things.  Forced overtime at the Frito-Lay plant in Topeka, Kansas reached a boiling point recently. It led to hundreds of workers going on strike in protest of grueling overtime rules that saw many work 12-hour days for sometimes months on end. Some workers share their experiences with us. Most say the overtime policies left little time for much outside of work and forced many to forgo time with family and friends as a result. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kissmyworkingclass/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kissmyworkingclass/support

Spying Bosses and Privacy Losses | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:50:05

Is your boss spying on you? In this episode, we look at the many ways companies are using employee monitoring to keep tabs on workers. From capturing every keystroke on a computer to adding artificial intelligence cameras in Amazon delivery trucks, the practice has become more common. The COVID-19 pandemic has also fueled its prevalence in an age of remote work.  We'll break down how employee surveillance often goes too far by invading workers' privacy, creating cultures of distrust and damaging workplace morale.
