She has been tending the soil for 22 year. She was co-founded Youth Grow Urban Farm. She has won many awards for her work including Soros Equality Fellowship, Andrew Goodman Foundation hidden heroes award, Fulbright Distinguished Award , and presidential Ward for Excellence in Teaching. In this weeks episode Donna Fraser is a demonstration of courage, resilience and tenacity. Donna is one of the UK’s most successful 400m runners who competed at 4 consecutive Olympic Games and is now the Vice President and the Equality, Diversity & Engagement Lead to the sports governing body, UK Athletics. She was formerly the President of the South of England Athletics Association and from 2013-2015 she was Chair of the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Network at EDF Energy. She dedicated over two decades to her sport in athletics while pursuing a corporate career and now uses her talents to give something back to communities, her sport and those who want to achieve great things in life by inspiring and sharing her knowledge and experience gained in the world of sport and business. Donna is so engaging and inspiring and a fellow Brit. Carr, Co Founder of Higher Heights for America - a national organization providing Black women a political home dedicated to harness their power to elect Black women, influence elections and advance progressive policies. Glynda is an advocate and political strategist and the former Executive Director of Education Voters of New York. She was the Chief of Staff to New York State Senator Kevin Parker (Brooklyn), and managed the Senator’s key initiatives and shaped policy around youth development and economic development. She also served as campaign manager for two of his successful re-election campaigns. A sought after speaker and trainer, Glynda’s writing has appeared on TheRoot.com, BET.com, Ebony.com and Feminist.com and has appeared on Fox News Live, MSNBC and several other media outlets. This weeks episode my guest is Karen Chaplin. Karen is an independent Education Management Professional. She was the former County Supervisor of Education for Essex and Passaic counties, New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, the Coordinator of Regional Post-Release Programs, GED Program Director at the Jamesburg New Jersey Training School for Boys, and special education instructor for the severely disabled in the NJ Department of Corrections. She started her life as an educator as a 4th grade and middle school teacher, specializing in reading. She sits on numerous Boards bringing her educational expertise to the organizations and communities that she serves. Karen Chaplin earned a BS in Education at Lesley University and an M.Ed in Educational Leadership at the College of New Jersey. She is proud to have been married for 36 years to Chuck Chaplin, , and to be the mother of two awe- some children her daughter Beverly and her son Eddie.
