Summary: Stained by Ridicule Acts 2:1-13 Being ridiculed for your faith is as old as the faith itself. Indeed, even on the Church’s very birthday – on Pentecost – the disciples are ridiculed as they speak in tongues. “They have had too much wine,” their antagonists say (verse 13). How do you respond in the face of ridicule? Jesus promises, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5:11-12).
