Episode-2526- Time To Plan Winter Garden and Homestead Projects

The Survival Podcast show

Summary: The Summer of 2019 seemed to go on forever, September was no relief for much of the nation, it sure wasn’t here.  That said the last two nights were in the 50s and nights in the 40s are soon on the way by the end of the week.  The days are getting shorter and my morning walks result in blinding low sun angles at times.  Two days ago a pack of black birds numbering several hundred passed though my back yard.  Diamond doves has started showing up.  All of these things are signs that the seasonal wheel has turned and the down hill coasting into winter has begun. Now is the time to get serious about planning all the projects to get done before spring starts up and all that winter down time is gone.  I know right now it seems like Christmas is miles away and we all know months of “cabin fever” tend to follow in January and February, but trust me the holidays will be here soon, Thanksgiving will fold into Christmas in less time than you can imagine, we will ring in 2020 and be hauling ass toward spring way faster than you think. So while there is plenty of time to get things done over the next 5 months the time to plan out, prioritize and allocate time and resources is now.  Least what is going to happen this winter become that which you will “get to next year”. Join Me Today to Discuss… Why now is the time Step one is evaluate what you did this year What worked What didn’t What was clearly a losing play What did you enjoy doing, eating and having Now use that to plan your next steps Do more of what worked, if you need to Fix or abandon what failed Decide what you want to do next Setting priority Determine how much time and money each idea will cost you Develop a time and money budget for the entire period Determine what each project will do for you Now set priority and develop a time line Make sure to schedule things by dates Some things I am planning this year New garden beds and rehab aviary and wicking beds Complete rebuild of the green house and aquaponics system in it Develop a new plant starting system an schedule Remodel of my back shop building, shelves, organization, etc. New lighter, better chicken tractor Irrigation for new Pecan Trees as primary overstory Plan out meat livestock quantity, schedule, etc. Final Thoughts   Resources for today’s show… Follow Life With Jack on Instagram TSP Facebook Group Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom TspAz.com Texas in 1880 – Forster and Lloyd   Sponsors of the Day Safecastle Royal The Berkey Guy   Remember to comment, chime in and tell us your thoughts, this podcast is one man’s opinion, not a lecture or sermon.
